On Your Special Day....

Today's card is for a friend's daughter's wedding.  I wish I knew how to photograph mirror card successfully, without getting a reflection of the camera in it!  I almost managed it, the bottom few hearts just caught the reflection.

The colour scheme for the wedding is white and midnight blue, so I've used these colours on the card.   I used a Memory Box 'Cupid Heart Die' and the embossing folder is Spellbinders 'Dainty Dots'. Although it's not very clear in the photos, the tiny silver brads at the bottom are hearts.

Tomorrow is my day for The Creative Blog Hop.  It's all ready to go in draft, so I hope you can find time to come back again tomorrow.

Baby Card

Just a quick baby card today. It's my turn for The Creative Blog Hop on Monday, so I've been planning this afternoon what I am going to write.

I love this cute Lili of the Valley stamp.  It looks just as lovely in colours for a girl. I used a Darice Dots embossing folder for the background.  The background looks a bit grey in the photo, but it's actually white.  The image was coloured in with Promarkers.

Fairy Secret

The Lavina Stamps challenge this month is 'Add Some Glitter'.  I decided to use a glittery metallic thread to wind round a scalloped Nestablity shape.  I also added clear Stickles to the flowers on the Lavinia  'Fairy Wish' stamped image to add more sparkle.  I don't know why, but the clear Stickles always turns green when it's put on Versafine Onyx ink - very strange!
I used a Sizzlets Photo Corner die for the corners.  They had square corners, so I corner rounded them to match the patterned paper.

Butterflies and Flowers

Ever had one of those days when the card you planned just didn't work out right?  Well... today was my day!  I knew I wanted to use my Spellbinders butterfly die, but I changed the card fold, the card size, the overall card design, the colours.....!  Oh well, at least the card is finished - even though it is nothing like the original design in my head!
I used my Couture 'Tied Together' embossing folder for the background and Nestability dies to make the frame.  The butterfly and black frame were attached with foam pads.  The two little punched flowers have tiny black gems in the centre.

Time for a Swim.....

Di from Pixie's Crafty Workshop sent me this wonderful, fun stamp!  Thanks Di!
I used Promarkers to colour the image, covering the little pool of water with Glossy Accents.  The embossing folder is Sheena Douglass  - 'Water Ripple'.  I used a punch for the water droplets, attaching them with foam pads.

Another bookmark....

Following on from my post yesterday, I was thinking about a design for a bookmark that might appeal to boys.  My great nephew's love of all things to do with Spiderman gave me inspiration to make this corner bookmark.

This is what the bookmark looks like on the page of a book.

I altered the size from 2 1/2" squares to 3" squares on the template (see yesterday's post for link to instructions), mainly to fit in with the size of my oval punches for the eyes.  My freehand drawing of the web isn't brilliant, so I'll look around to see if there is a web I can print straight onto red card.

Corner Bookmarks

I came across a website with an idea for making corner bookmarks.
Click on the link below for clear instructions how to make the basic corner bookmark shape.
http://tallystreasury.com/2011/02/corner-page-bookmarks-3/

This seemed perfect for using up even the tiniest of snippets, so I played around using different colours and this is what I came up with.... a ladybird, penguin, Minion, frog and owl. The ladybird shows how they attach to the page of the book.

Here's another one I made.

I bought some animal print backing papers years ago and never used them.  They would be perfect for these bookmarks.  I just need to find them!!!

Pixie's Crafty Workshop as given me lots of inspiration to use up little snippets instead of adding them to the pile!  Click here to enter this week's challenge.

You Can't Make a Rainbow.......

I used an Inkylicious silhouette stamp and a lovely sentiment.  The rainbow was made by using a Die-namics die with lots of different coloured offcuts.  The clouds were cut with a Memory Box die and the card was finished off with tiny clear gems.

Having a play......

I've just returned from a rainy few days in our caravan in North Devon.  This time I just packed a few crafty things to have a play with - stencils, inks, pens and a few stamps.

For the first card I used a Creative Expressions 'Raindrops' stencil with an Adirondack 'Denim' ink pad.  The stamps are from Inkylicious.

The next card is one of several I made this week using Lavinia Stamps. I think this one needs a bit of glitter or liquid pearls, so I may add that tomorrow, as I'll have somewhere to leave it to dry overnight.

Finally, this isn't a card, but my first attempt at Zentangle, using a Dreamweaver stencil.  I'm not sure I'll make it into a card as I was just playing around and I'm not sure about it.  I need to find a good book to teach myself how to do it properly, or see if there are any local Zentangle workshops.

Well that's it for today.  I've missed having a decent signal for the Internet while we've been away, so I need to catch up on the blogs I'm following.

Sunflower

On a recent day out with my crafty friend, Ruth, I bought this Prima Circle Lattice stencil.  Having discovered that they are not as scary to use as I thought, I used the stencil with an Adirondack 'Meadow' ink pad to make the background.

The sunflower is a Cheery Lynn die.  I made the yellow frame using Nestability dies and attached it with foam pads to make it stand out. As my blog name suggests, Sunflowers are my favourite flowers!

Up, Up and Away!

There seems to be a lot of cards I need to make for men at this time of year, so here is the card I made today. I started off making the hot air balloons from plain card oddments, but decided patterned paper looked better.  I cut out the bottom of each balloon from snippets of brown card and attached to the bottom of each balloon, cutting off the patterned basket.  All the balloons are embossed, although this doesn't show up very well in the photograph.
The background was done with an Embossalicious 'Clouds' embossing folder. The balloon dies are Lin and Lene dies and I also used Memory Box cloud dies.

It's a Boy!

We heard this weekend that friends of ours were made grandparents for the first time.  Little Archie arrived three weeks early, so I got to work on making cards for the happy parents and grandparents.

Every time I use this Marianne die, it reminds me of the first time I got into cardmaking.  Many years ago I went to a craft show in Shepton Mallet and saw a demonstration using Lacé templates, which you cut through with a craft knife.  It looked really easy, so a bought a couple, went home and made my first ever card.  Thankfully, similar Marianne Lacé dies came on the market, which do all the hard work for you!

I used snippets of blue pearlised card for this one, layering the pram using foam pads. I love this cute embossing folder for baby cards to give the backgrounds a bit of texture. I used a Memory Box die - 'Baby Carriage'.
