It started off as a Twofer.........

I have been making quite a few non-Christmas cards over the last few weeks, so I'm back on the Christmas cards to join in a few challenges.

The theme for the Twofer Challenge this month is 'Holiday Greenery'.  Two cards, with different designs, using the same stamp, die or stencil.  Just for this month they can be for the same occasion.

I chose to use a tree stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Perfectly Plaid' set of stamps on both my cards, which I stamped in Versafine ' Crimson Red'.

I am joining in the Twofer Challenge with this pair of cards.

For my first card I covered the top half of the card blank with dark green card and added a strip of plaid patterned paper across the middle, before attaching three of the stamped trees.  The sentiment is also a stamp from the 'Perfectly Plaid' set of cards.

On this card I cut off the tree trunk and cut the tree in half down the middle so I could use the pieces as corner embellishment.  The oval die cuts are all from the Memory Box 'Stitched Oval Layers' set of dies.

Rather than waste a spare stamped tree I had, I made a Threefer.
A quick CAS card with the stamped tree layered on Memory Box ' Stitched Square Layers' die cuts, three added pearls and a stamped sentiment.

I'm joining in Beccy's Month of Holiday Cards Challenge with my three cards.   (I think I can only link up one as they are all on the same post.)  It's up to the letter R, so R for Red.

  1. Three great cards Liz and love the leafy trees, one with the pretty red tartan strip, and then the trees cut in half without the trunks for the corners with more pretty red tartan in the background, such a wonderful idea, and all with different super shades of green. The third card is a super card too and good to use up the tree rather than leave it in a bits box for ever more which is what I would probably end up doing..lol. x

  2. Three lovely cards Liz, the tree stamp is beautiful as are the designs. Brilliant idea to cut up the image and use it for corners on the second card, great thinking!

  6. I "overcatered" and made a threefer last month too! Your cards are gorgeous and what a great idea to use the halved trees as "long corners", I think they look a lot better with an oval topper than traditional half-square ones would have done.

  9. Hi Liz! I haven't seen you around blog land for a while... it's great to have you in the challenge this month. Love your threefer collection of festive makes, the tree image is fabulous and you've been very creative using it in different ways. I don't think I would have though to cut it apart and use it as decorative corners. Great idea!
    Cheers,
    Beccy

  11. Now that's a good deal to get three Christmas cards in one setting and use up snippets, too! These are all beautiful classic Christmas cards, Liz, and I love each design! Very clever of you to use the tree cut in half as corner embellishments!! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #22! Hugs, Darnell

  12. Well, I love those cards. I certainly love the way you did the corner treatment with the tree design. That was so clever. And, the other tree designs were fantastic as well.

  13. Awesome Threefer, Liz! I so love that you've stamped the trees in that rich, Christmassy red! Bold and such a nice twist on greens. That plaid across the middle of your first card makes it so festive, and that tree is a perfect size with great branches. Your second card...You cut those trees in half, and used them to frame your focal point...how brilliant is that??!! I just might have to borrow that idea! And last but not least, your third card makes my CAS-loving heart so happy. It has all that lovely white space, and a great focal point. Love it! Thanks so much for joining us at The Twofer Challenge! Bev

  19. You really stretched this stamp and made three great cards. I really like all the designs and that gorgeous plaid paper that looks like ribbon. Using the tree as corners is genius.
