Crafty Calendar Challenge ~ Halloween

The October Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today and the theme this month is 'Halloween'.

I used a MFT 'Cross-Stitch Tag' die with stiff white card and chopped off the top to make a rectangle.  The spider was cross stitched with black crochet cotton.  The striped paper was from a My Mind's Eye 'Something Wicked' paper pad.  I used a Cuttlebug 'Spider Stew' embossing folder.  The sentiment is a stamp from La-La Land Crafts 'Lil' Devil Marci' set, stamped with Versafine 'Onyx Black'.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge ends on 28th October, so please hop over to the challenge blog to see all the creations the DT have made for inspiration.

I am joining in the following challenges:
As You Like It Challenge ~ Square or not? (and why) I prefer making square cards as there seems to be more flexibility on where to put all the different elements.

  4. What a clever and tactile twist on Halloween crafting—your stitched spider adds such a fun, unexpected texture to the card. The monochrome palette keeps everything crisp and stylish, while the embossed background and striped paper bring just the right amount of spooky charm. I love how you transformed the tag die into a rectangle; it’s such a smart way to stretch your supplies. This design feels festive without being over-the-top, and the balance of elements is spot on.

  10. I think that stitched spider is sort of cute Liz, not that I think they're cute in real life..lol, and the background paper and embossing finish it off beautifully. x

  18. What a great Halloween card, Liz. Not scary at all using a spider. In fact, the spider looks around like he's worried. Love the black and white.
