Thank You Twofer

It really is a small world.  I was emailed by an American blogging friend recently.  They have a friend who I think lives in France, who has a friend who lives in Wales.   Are you still with me? The friend in Wales wanted to pass all his late wife's crafting things onto another crafter who would use them or pass them on to be used.  We live in England, but only just over an hour's drive from the friend in Wales, so my hubby and I drove over to Severn Bridge last Monday and came home with fourteen big boxes full of of various crafting things to sort.  Ten boxes are sorted and I have four to go!  I wanted to make a thank you card for the lovely man who gave me the craft items, using some things I was given.  As his passion is classic cars, I was delighted to find this image in one of the boxes.

The image was from a set of topper cards from Stamped Out For You, 'Sepia Mini Sentiments'.  The topper had a sentiment on, so I chopped off the sentiment and just used the image. The patterned paper was also in one of the boxes, but I don't know the brand as there were a few loose sheets of this design.  The sentiment is a Impression Obsession 'Thanks' die cut.  I used dark brown card for the mats and the sentiment.  As the topper was from a new pack, I'll be sharing my card over in the NBUS challenge.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

Initially, I didn't add any Card Candi to the first card and it looked a bit bare.  I thought the image might look better on a rectangular card so I made a second card.  When I added the Card Candi to this card, I decided to add some to the first card too and I think it now looks more balanced.  So now I have a spare masculine Thank You card for my box of ready-made cards.  I think I will probably send the first one over to Wales.

  5. It's a fabulous masculine card, and how nice that you were thought of for all the crafty goodies, I sometimes wonder what will happen to my room full of my crafty things when I am gone, my SIL tells me he will just get a dumpster, I told him I would haunt him if he did that!!

  12. It is a funny old world, but what a lovely thing to do. I am glad you were able to help and hope you are successful in the sorting out of the boxes. Your cards are great. They both work, but I think I would lean towards the rectangle one if pushed. Thanks for your recent visits to me and lovely comments xx

Your make is very personal and thoughtful, Liz, and I'm delighted everything worked out for everyone! And you're right about the bling. Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! 14. I love the vintage look of the sepia car image and it looks perfect over the similar tones of the wood panels dp. Both shapes work beautifully and the card candi does finish them both really well..two great thank you cards. I'm sure the gentleman was grateful to you for taking and sorting the contents out and of course also giving you some lovely new stash too. x

  16. The story behind this pair of cards is so touching, and you captured that warmth beautifully in your designs. The sepia car image feels perfectly suited to his love of classic cars, and it pairs so well with the wood‑toned patterned paper. I like how you tried both shapes, because each one brings out something different in the image, and the Card Candi really does finish them with a nice sense of balance. What a thoughtful way to honor his generosity and give a little bit of that kindness back.
