Thinking of you

 The challenge on the Butterfly Challenge blog this week is to use autumn colours.  I decided to use my favourite Lavinia 'Zen Butterfly' stamp.  I coloured it in with Promarkers in three shades of brown and covered the whole butterfly with a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush to add a bit of sparkle.  

As anyone who knows me well will tell you, I tend to avoid inky backgrounds.  It's not that I don't like them, but I find it hard not to make a total mess of the background. So, today I decided to go out of my comfort zone and use a Creative Expression mask - 'Doodle Squares' and ink randomly with Adirondack 'Sunset Orange' and  a Distress Ink 'Tea Dye'.

  2. This is beautiful! I love your zen butterfly! And I'm glad you went out of your comfort zone with the mask - the background looks fabulous! I haven't used masks or stencils before and now that I have collected a few I want to try them. You have inspired me! Have a nice weekend!

  11. I can see why this image is a favorite. It is lovely. And you definitely shouldn't be afraid of doing an inky background because you did a beautiful job. I really like the random squares.

  16. Liz, this worked wonderfully for you with the background. It's so pretty & you aced the technique I think. It's lovely with this most unusual butterfly. It's a very earthy & natural look with the image and your coloring. Most beautiful! TFS & hugs.
