Out of my comfort zone again!

Yesterday I went to an Art Journal workshop, which is SO far out of my CAS comfort zone!  But sometimes it's good to go out of your comfort zone.....right?  It was run by the two friends who organise my local, monthly 'Crop and Craft' days, so I knew I'd be in safe hands.  :-)
For the first project, I started with a blank piece of mountboard and attached various die-cuts, textured paste and torn,  embossed card before painting everything with black acrylic paint.  When it was dry I added silver and turquoise Inka-Gold which gave it a metallic sheen.

The next two projects were also on mountboard, painted with blue, pink and yellow acrylic paint, before giving them a coat of white acrylic paint.  The image was coloured with pencil crayons.  The text was computer generated with lines added by hand.....

... although on the second one my CAS head kicked in and the lines around the text on this one were done on the computer. ;-)

So..... I survived the day.  I'll remember to put my gloves on before I start next time, so I don't come home with blue stained hands again!

  2. Great work Liz and I bet you really enjoyed yourself. I recently did similar to your top one on an MDF heart at a workshop. They all look great Liz and I especially like the middle one. She looks like a woman with attitude! Great work. Barbxx

  3. These would ALL be outside my comfort zone too. You've done marvelous work on each of these. Really like the silvery one, lovely with all the sewing motifs and the puzzle pieces. The metallic patina is so pretty. Liked the fun feel of #2 and 3, these both looked like you were just embracing "fun" and created some light hearted whimsy. Liked the way you used the computer witht he sentiment. Such fun playing, isn't it? I get the el cheapo thin gloves at our Dollar stores. Toss 'em when you're done. TFS & Hugs.

  5. Great arty projects from your fun day Liz. I love the all the texture and lovely metallic finish on the first one.
I always quite relish getting a bit messy with inks and paint when I'm having a play session, and I find that a good hand wash with a TH scrubbie soon cleans up inky fingers.

    1. Every colour except blue came off my hands, including the black. No idea what was in the blue to make it so difficult to shift! xx
