Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to share an idea at the bottom of this post that I saw recently.
The Butterfly Challenge this fortnight is 'Butterflies + N is for Numbers'.
The embossing folder I used for the background is by x-Cut. I punched a white butterfly strip using a Martha Stewart Double Edge Monarch Butterflies Punch. The sentiment was layered using Memory Box Stitched Circle dies. White pearls in the corners finished off my card.
I would like to enter my card for the following challenges:
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has an embossing folder addiction! I can take no credit for this idea of organising my embossing folders, I saw the idea HERE on Enfys' blog 'Going Buggy', and thought it was too good not to share.
I started by die cutting a pile of tags with a red Sizzix die.
Then I embossed each tag with a different embossing folder, labelling the tag and embossing folder with the same letter and number.
I organised my folders by size, giving each size a different letter and put the tags on split rings.
Several of my embossing folders have big designs/frames, so I embossed larger pieces of card to show the whole design and put these on a separate ring.
My embossing folders are stored in boxes by size and each set in numerical order. It's now much easier to find the one I need.
Such a pretty card. Love the embossing folder and the little strip of butterflies is such a pretty contrast! Great job, Liz. Thanks for sharing the EF tips too. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteWOW - that is truly organised of you Liz. I think we need you in the Playground Library, to sort out those dusty shelves full of misplaced books! They just get shoved back any old how you know!

DeleteYour card is so gorgeous!! I love the strip of butterflies and the embossing!! And what a creative and fabulous way to organize your embossing folders!! I have a ton of them but I don't know that I have the patience to organize them!! I wish I did - I love this idea!! Have a great day :)

Oh wow Liz, what a lovely card - just perfect in fact, I adore the embossing folder and punch you used! And I do so like the embossing folder organisation ( I did see it over at Enfys' blog and wondered how it would work for my big folders). I keep mine in themes/sizes in a long open box on a shelf but am sorely tempted to have a rethink :) Choices, choices :)
ReplyDeleteOh and I did laugh about the Jumping Jacks fireworks - took me back a bit there. Catherine Wheels were my secret fear as a kid, I think it was the whistling noise they made :)
If I'm up and about on 5th November, mine's a hot dog with onions please - and really anything illicit would be a nice treat!

I've always kept my embossing folders sorted by size, but it took me ages to find the one I wanted. I even forgot I had a few of the older ones! Flicking through the tags is so much quicker to find one suitable for the card I'm making. Even the patterns on A4 embossing folders fitted on a little tag. Although it took a while to do, it was a perfect job to do in front of the TV - all the tags were made from snippets too. ;-) xx

Gorgeous Embossed card and i love the strip of die cut butterflies across the middle of the card. So elegant looking. Thanks for the idea on how to store my embossing folders. Up till now i have stored under the theme they have so they are mixed in with stamps/die cuts and stencils. This would be reminder of what I actually have in my stash.
ReplyDeleteRef. the jumping jacks. I have been experimenting down in the potting shed with gun powder and think I have come up with some pretty substantial ones for the bonfire night. I tried it out (the gunpowder mix) on a rocket and it well went up like a rocket. Blew next doors roof off the green house!!! Hugs Mrs A.

ReplyDeleteA lovely card for Mrs A's Butterfly challenge. I like the way you've done the number too! Lovely EF and that is a great MS punch too. The combo looks great together. Loved your EF organizational idea (I'm an EF addict also, and it's always hard to find just the 'right' one. I've seen something similar done with the MS punches, but not with the EF's as you have done on the tags! It looks like a splendid and very workable idea, to have handy when one is shopping! I've gotten so many duplicates and this would help greatly! )TFS both the card & tip! Hugs.

Hi Liz, I have just noticed your comment on the papermilldirect blog. Thank you for your link. I like your idea of marking the tags and folders numerically, I have just grouped my folders together in boxes in the order of my tag books. I have made a tag book for each brand of folders, the largest being the Tim Holtz Alterations.
