Whisper a wish...

The Less is More Challenge this week is 'Silhouette', which is my favourite style of stamp.  The challenge closes soon, so I'm sneaking in my entry at the last minute this week!

The image and sentiment are by Little Claire.  I used Adirondack Red Pepper, Orange Sunset and Sunshine Yellow ink pads for the background and applied the ink using Ink Dusters.  The stamped image is die cut with a Creative Expressions Pierced Rectangle die and matted on a snippet of black card.

Two cards today...

A thank you card today, using two of the stamps in a Stamp Attic set, which I was lucky enough to win recently.

The snow drift is cut with a Lawn Fawn 'Stitched Hillside Border'.  Tiny punched snowflakes were added to the sky.

My second card is an Acceptance card for a friend's wedding. I used a Couture Creations 'Tied Together' embossing folder for the background.  The Memory Box 'Red Sofia Heart' was die cut using a snippet of red holographic card.  This was mounted on Spellbinders 'Lacey Circles' die cuts and attached with foam pads.   The word 'Acceptance' is stamped with a very old Hobby Arts wood mounted stamp and matted on red holographic card.

Do you want to build a snowman?

The current Cuttlebug Mania challenge is 'Baby, it's cold outside',  to include a snowman. So, I thought I'd 'build' a snowman.

The card base was cut with a Presscut 'Scallop Semi Circle' die.  I think the card is supposed to go the other way up and stand up looking like a shell shape, but I decided to put it this way to make a rocker card.  I die cut a semi circle, using one of the dies that comes with the set and embossed it with a Crafter's Companion 'Snowflakes' e/f.  The die cut snowflakes are Memory Box 'Twilight Snowflakes', another Christmas present from a crafty friend.  The snowman was made using two Memory Box 'Stitched Circle' dies, embossed with a Sheena Douglass 'Snowfall' e/f. The hat was die cut from a snippet of blue card, using a really old Sizzlets die.  Black gems, a ribbon scarf and a nose cut out of a snippet of orange card finished off the snowman.

Thinking of You

A sympathy card to share today, which I made for a blogging friend a few weeks ago.  I thought I'd forgotten to take a photo of the card before sending it, but came across the photo today.

The die cut on the left is Memory Box 'Fairytale Flower Border'.  I die cut in white first, then again in pale pink.  I snipped off four pink flowers and layered over the white die cut to add just a touch of colour.

Just playing.....

I didn't intend making another card today, but was just playing with a Martha Stewart double edge border punch to see if I could make a butterfly mask.  I used a snippet of white card to punch the butterfly border, attached it to another snippet of white card with masking tape.  I then went over the mask using an Adirondack 'Raspberry' ink pad and an Ink Duster.  It worked really well and the inked strip was too good to waste, so I made it into a card.

I embossed a background using an x-Cut embossing folder, punched out a butterfly using a Fiskars 'Intricate Butterfly' punch, added a sentiment attached with foam pads and finished off with a few pearls.

I was left with the mask in a lovely shade of pink, so I made possibly the quickest card I've ever made!  I already had the black Memory Box 'Happy Birthday' die cut.  I attached it to a white card blank, attached the pink butterfly mask and three pink pearls.  Card finished!

Star Shaker Card

I've made masculine shaker card today.

All the dies used were Memory Box Stitched Hexagons.  I used two dies (two sizes apart) to make the black frame. The red background was embossed with a Cuttlebug 'Christmas Stars' e/f. The white background was embossed with a Creative Expressions 'Linen' e/f.  A few punched black stars finished off my card.

Sailing....

Welcome to my two new followers, Marina whose blog is 'My Perfect Life' and Kath of Handmade by Kath. 

I was lucky enough to have a few new dies for Christmas, including the Memory Box 'Marina Sailboats'.

The yachts come in two different sizes in the set and this is the largest one.  There are also two different wave dies. I made up the scene, then die cut using a Memory Box Stitched Hexagon die.  I used a Sheena Douglass 'Water Ripple' embossing folder for the background, which I mounted on a red card blank.  The computer generated sentiment was die cut using a Memory Box Stitched Rectangle die.  Two punched anchors finished off my card.  Lot of snippets were used on this card, so I'll be off to share my card in the Playground.

Flourish

The theme for the Less is More Challenge this week is a One Layer with a Flourish.  

The flourish is one of the stamps in the Personal Impressions 'Swirls and Flourishes 1' set.  The sentiment is a stamp from a Sizzix sentiment set  and both were stamped with Versafine 'Onyx' stamp pad.  The colour was added with Ultra Fine Sharpie pens and I added one tiny clear gem to the centre of the flower.

Happy Birthday Twoo Hoo You!

A masculine card is needed for later this month. I decided to stay away from sporting or DIY themes and use an owl stamp, keeping the colours fairly masculine.

I used a Presscut step die, which I really love, as it comes with dies to cut out the scalloped panels.  The image is from a Woodware set of stamps I've had for ages, die cut with Memory Box stitched rectange die and coloured with Promarkers.  The patterned paper is from a Dovecraft paper stack and the leaves were punched from snippets of green card using a small Woodware punch.

Thinking of You

A sympathy card today, white with just a touch of a beige.

The stitched border is a new die from a set of Sue Wilson Noble dies 'Double Pierced Squares - Set B', which I was lucky enough to receive as a Christmas present.  The butterfly die cuts are both Memory box, 'Sylvan Corner' and 'Pippi Butterfly'. The single butterfly is attached just by the centre to make the wings stand up, but I can't get rid of the shadow in the photograph!

Happy Bunny

Welcome to my new follower, Diane of Diane's Rambles. Pop over to her blog to see her lovely creations.

This card is for my four and seven year old great-nieces.  They gave me and my hubby some lovely Christmas presents and this card is to say 'thank you'.  If children are expected to write thank you notes, I think it is only right that they receive them too. :-)

Both the girls have pet rabbits, so my new Woodware 'Happy Bunny' stamp seemed perfect.   The stamp seemed ideal for paper piecing, so I stamped it first on the card blank, then onto a snippet of patterned paper, then stamped the ears onto a snippet of brown card.   I used the same paper and card for the sentiment, punching out a paw print in the top layer. The tail was covered with a white Wink of Stella pen to add a bit of sparkle.

Five Favourite Christmas Cards of 2015

 Debby has her annual challenge  HERE  to select our five favourite Christmas cards/projects made this year.  This was far more difficult than I imagined - is anyone else so critical over their own creations?  These are my final choices.

1. I chose an easel card for my first card. This was the only easel card I made in 2015, I must remember to make more in 2016! 

2. Chocolate filled place names for the table on Christmas Day.

3. Can anyone resist these Crazy Birds? I turned this one into a Christmas robin.

4. I resisted temptation to buy this Santa's Laundry die for a whole year after seeing it on other blogs, but finally gave in near the end of this year!  Although I made several cards of this design in traditional Santa colours of red and white, I made a few in the colours of our local football team for football fans.  They certainly made a few people smile! 

5. Finally, my first ever White on White card.  I was really pleased how it turned out.

101 Years Young

Happy New Year to all my blogging friends!

Anyone who has been following my blog for over a year may have seen the card I made HERE for the 100th birthday of an amazing lady. Well.... Kitty is 101 years young today and I still get to see her regularly, supporting our local football team.

I wanted to make a card in blue and white (our team colours), include something football related, keep it feminine and also with plenty of texture as Kitty doesn't see too well these days.  I decided on a box pop-up card.  The panels are embossed with a football embossing folder, with the two side flap in blue and white quarters, the same as on the team shirts.  Footballs were added, raised up on foam pads. The flowers were made with snippets, using three different punches and attached to strips of acetate.  I also added a few white Memory Box 'Chloe Stems' die cuts.
