Anniversary Card

We have just had a lovely week in Cornwall with a group of ten friends.  The twelve of us have had a holiday together for the last 27 years, starting with a weekend each year and now spending a week away together, in different parts of the country.  Everything went well until a couple of days before were were due to come home.  We were having a walk in the country, walking along a muddy track, when somehow I lost my footing and slipped off the track about 8 or 9 feet down a muddy bank, covered in trees and brambles.  A tree broke my fall when my leg hit against it.  It could have been worse, it could have been my head hitting the tree!  The friend who witnessed my fall said my somersaulting was most impressive!  However, I landed up in A & E with a damaged knee, quite a few bruises and scratches, but fortunately nothing broken.  I have to rest my leg for a while, so a perfect opportunity to do some more crafting. Every cloud has a silver lining!

So, onto today's card.  While we were away, one of the couples was celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary and this is the card I made for them.

The shaped card was die cut with one of a set of Sizzix 'Flip-Its' dies.  The set of dies was also used to die cut the pink card which I embossed with an Xcut 'Small Polka Dot' folder.  The sentiment is stamped with Versafine 'Onyx' and I added a Creative Expression heart from the 'Mr & Mrs' set of dies.  The heart on the back of the circle is a MB die, 'Sofia Heart'.  All the pink pieces of card were small snippets of the same shade of pink, so I'll be off to share my card in the Playground.

I am joining in the following challenges:

  6. Glad you had a mostly enjoyable week in Cornwall. Sorry to hear about your fall, I just wondered if there had been a liquid lunch before the walk which may have been a contributory factor..lol, no, only joking. I hope you soon feel better and it is so easy to slip when it is wet and muddy underfoot. x

    1. LOL! No liquid lunch that day, Pat, unless the filling of the Cornish pasty had been soaked in cider. 😉 xx

  9. Oh Liz, that sounds like quite a tumble you took! Lucky not to have been really badly injured - but more craft time while you recover sounds a good outcome in some ways!

I love this card - such a great style of die cut and really pretty too. As always, so beautifully made as well.

    Hugs

  17. You do give a good and scary accounting of your stunt-double fall down the hill, Liz! It's always sobering to come "that close" to having your head smashed like a melon against a tree to make you stop and smell the roses. I'm sorry for the injuries you did suffer, but I'm so glad you weren't hurt much worse! And I think it's awesome that you have a group of TEN who get along well enough to spend a week together every year for almost 30 years! I love it and I love your card!! Hugs, Darnell
