A card made today to enter a few challenges.
The butterfly is die cut with Poppystamps 'Elsa Butterfly' and 'Lyndon Butterfly', a lovely giveaway I won on Kath's Blog last year. I used one of the SB Nestabilities 'Pinked Circle' dies with a snippet of white card. While the die cut was in still in the die, I used the die as a guide to pierce holes with a piercing tool, just inside each point. I haven't done any Spirelli for a long time, but used this technique with a needle and crochet cotton through the holes, instead of winding round the die cut. This left a lovely white jagged border round the edge.

This is wonderful spirelli Liz and with a bit of a twist with the piercing. I love the pretty butterfly in the centre and the yellow and green complement one another beautifully. x

ReplyDeleteLoving your spirelli .. .. great idea to make holes in the diecut rather than wrapping your thread over the outside. It makes for a much neater look!
Spirelli always reminds me of the Spirograph toy I had as a child (and still have stashed away as something I can't part with from my childhood .. .. I spent many a happy hour playing with it .. .. but for some reason my kids were never so intrigued LOL!!).

The Spirelli is surprisingly quick to do, it took about 5 minutes. It would have been even quicker if I'd wound it round, in between the points of the die cut. xx
