Those crafty friends who know me well know that I'm a CAS crafter, mainly die cutting, stamping and dry embossing. However, after seeing all the amazing results of the Distress Oxides Inks on other blogs, I decided it was time to go way out of my comfort zone and get inky. First I watched a couple of YouTube videos to see what I could do with the Distress Oxides. After playing with them, some attempts being better than others, I made two cards with a couple of the different patterns.
For the background I used 'Salty Ocean' and 'Lucky Clover' and used a blending tool to cover a white piece of card randomly. I then used a heat gun to make sure the ink was dry. Next I sprayed a Creative Expressions 'Distress Dots' stencil with water, then laid the stencil down over the inked card, and smoothed a piece of kitchen roll over the top of soak up any excess water. Finally I dried the card with the heat gun again. The fairy is an unbranded die which I used with a snippet of black card. I used the die again with a snippet of red card to add a red heart over the black one.
I used the same colours for the second card, adding the ink with the blending tool again. This time I sprayed water on the card from a distance to get a fine spray. I used another unbranded fairy die to make this card.

Gorgeous cards Liz. I've just got my first distress oxide - only because the colour I wanted was out of stock in ordinary DI, so with only one shade I've just used it as a normal ink so far. I must get hold of some more and have a play. I love the way you've made the glorious inky backgrounds and yet still created cards with your classic CAS style.

These Oxide inks are really taking off now and you have done a fabulous job with them on your two backgrounds Liz. I love the spritzed stencilling and then the sprayed background, and the two different die cut fairies are so sweet and pretty and make maximum impact in black, and the red heart stands out beautifully on the first. x
