Twofer - Geometric

The theme for Darnell's Twofer Challenge this month is Geometric, two different cards, two different designs for two different occasions, following the theme.  I chose to use the same circle die on both cards.

I am joining in the the Twofer Challenge with this pair of cards.

At a recent craft day I played around with my Pixies Powders for the first time to make some backgrounds.  I used one of these backgrounds for my card.  I laid the stencil on a piece of watercolour paper, sprinkled the Pixie Powders over and sprayed with water - a new technique for me.  Before removing the stencil, I laid another piece of watercolour paper over the top to soak up the excess ink, which made a negative image for a future project.  I love the shiny effect of the Pixie Powders, which show up much better IRL.   I'm hoping I've interpreted Stencil Monoprinting correctly as I want to join in the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge with this card.   I made the frame using Memory Box 'Stiched Circle' and 'Stitched Scalloped Circle' dies.  The stencilled background is die cut with the same stitch circle die and inlaid in the frame.  The silhouette boat is a Poppystamps 'Marina Sailboats' die cut.  The sentiment is from the Happy Little Stampers 'Doodle Flowers' set and stamped with Versafine 'Onyx Black'.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

My second card is a birthday card, using the same Memory Box stitched circle die.  I used various circle and tear drops punches for the features on the emoji face.  The background is embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder and the sentiment is computer generated.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

  1. I'm sitting here chuckling at your emoji card, Liz! How very clever of you to use your punches to make that face which is perfect for your fun sediment! I love how you always think of ways to add an extra detail to bring it up a notch, like that embossing folder for the background! And I also love with your get well card design with the black sailboat silhouette against your Pixie Powders background! (Those powders sound a lot like the Magicals if they are all shimmery. It's good to have lots of options to keep the prices competitive on our beloved products!) The blue 'ocean' panel and scallops around your circle are terrific elements! Thank you so much for playing Twofer Card Challenge #8! Hugs, Darnell

  9. Oh Liz, that emoji card is absolutely brilliant especially paired with the sentiment. I love your attention to detail when creating the face, its spot on. Good job with the stencil monoprinting, makes a lovely seascape for the sail boat x

  10. I love the stenciled background on your boat card. Wondering how the color didn't seep through - is it because you soaked it up? That second card is a riot! Great use of different dies!

    1. I'm not sure why the colour didn't seep through, it's the first time I've tried this technique. I put the stencil on the dry watercolour paper and didn't spray on too much water. The second piece of paper soaked up the excess quite quickly. xx

  12. Wow Liz, I am totally loving both of these cards! The sailboat one could be masculine or not=love that, the scallop layer totally changes the look of using a circle. I love your background you were able to make with your Pixie powders, it is so cool looking. But it is the emoji card that I am crushing on! lol It is fun and so dang cute! You sure kicked it up a notch with this emoji face. Love it! Hugs, Brenda
