Cardmaking Workshop

A group of non-crafty friends asked if I would run a cardmaking workshop for them.  Here are the cards I designed for them as inspiration.  I kept the designs fairly simple so they could all complete all four cards during the evening.  Although I tried to encourage them to add some of their ideas in their designs, they were much more comfortable copying mine.  I had to smile watching the excitement of one of my friends when she used a corner rounder for the first time!

The penguin is made with the SU owl punch with a little creative cutting.  The embossing was done with a Cuttlebug 'Tiny Bubbles' embossing folder.

I used a Marianne 'Sunflower Rosette cArt-Us Lacé'  die for this card.  The flower is made with two punches.

The embossing folder for this card was done with a Couture Creations 'Replacements' e/f and the cogs are Sizzix 'Gadget Gears' die cuts.

The last card has a punched paw print border.  The Sizzix dog die cut is attached to a corner rounded rectangle, embossed with a Sue Wilson 'Pawprint Lattice' e/f.  Three gold Card Candi finished off this card.

I am joining in the following challenges with the penguin card:

  7. I think you did a great class for them. Embossing, die cutting and using embellishments. I can image how much fun they had and how thrilled they are with their cards. That was so nice of you. The designs are perfect for them.

  10. Each card is just a great design for 'newbies' to attempt, and I thoroughly understand their desire to replicate the designs you had done for them. It's much less intimidating for an early cardmaker. I can bet you had just as much fun watching them learn, as you did making the sample card. How wonderful for you that you have a group you can teach and enjoy spending crafty time together, watching them grow in this hobby. And you will learn from them too! Good for you at a new 'career' as a teacher! LOL! TFS (and I loved each card. Had lots of color & style, yet each one was unique).

  13. It takes a lot of work and effort to do a class Liz, but you did so well with your four beautiful and very different designs. You can see from their faces how much they enjoyed it and I think they will be back for more quite soon. I ran a class every week for about 18 months and found it quite difficult to find something different for them to tackle each week, but it was fun too. x
