Black, White and Red

Today's card uses a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Butterfly Gala' set, stamped with Memento 'Tuxedo Black' and coloured with a red Promarker.  The body of the butterfly is from a Memory Box butterfly die cut.  The sentiment is a stamp from the same set.  I used two Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' dies for matting and layering.  The background is embossed with Sizzix embossing folder, the embossed card inked with a brayer and black ink and layered on a black mat.  I love using this embossing folder because the embossed card so easy to ink with a brayer to make my own background.   I used snippets for everything, except the card blank, so I'll be sharing my card over in the Playground.

I had a spare piece of the same white embossed card and a spare little butterfly, so I made a second card and this time brayered on the reverse side to get a totally different effect.

Double Z Fold Pop-Up Card

The current Butterfly Challenge is  'Z for Z Fold Card' and there are some tutorials HERE.  My card when folded measured 6" x 4".

I decided to make a butterfly garden, so added little white strips of card in the middle of the Double Z Fold to attach a couple of butterflies on acetate to make them 'fly'.  The patterned paper is from a paper pad which came a a magazine freebie several years ago.   I used the following Memory Box dies: 'Isabella Butterfly', 'Pippi Butterfly', 'Kaleidoscope Butterfly', 'Moonlight Butterfly', 'Darla Butterfly' and 'Swirl Butterfly, using colours in the patterned paper.  The sentiment is from The SU 'Best Year' set of stamps

The card folds flat for posting.

Last Friday I joined in with a local Stamping Up 'Cards and a Cuppa' Zoom workshop, where I made these two cards.

Angel

The June Rudolph Days Challenge begins today and runs until the end of the month.  Six months today it will be Christmas Day..... where is the time going?!

The angel is a Sue Wilson 'Illuminated Angel Mini Striplet' die cut, using silver mirror card and backed with plain white card.  I inlaid the star with gold non-shed glitter card.  The background is embossed using a Sue Wilson 'Shimmering Stars' embossing folder, layered over a silver mirror card front.  The sentiment is attached with foam pads.

Yesterday my hubby and I had our first day out in the car since lockdown.  It was such a lovely day so we headed towards the coast at Clevedon.  We walked about five miles along the seafront and back and it was lovely to feel the cool sea breeze.

Lots of Circles

The theme of the Twofer Challenge this month is 'Circles/Bubbles'.   Two different designs, for two different occasions, using the same die, stamp or stencil.

I used the same large Memory Box stitched circle die on both cards.

I am joining in the Twofer Challenge with this pair of cards.

My first card is a CAS Anniversary card.  I made a purple frame with two of the Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' dies. I used the smaller circle again to die cut a white circle, which I then embossed with an Xcut 'Small Polka Hearts' e/f and inlaid it into the purple frame.  I put a Poppystamps 'Small Tilda Swirl' die cut in the middle and a small punched white heart on top.  The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons, layered on a slightly wider strip of purple card.  The circle is raised up on foam tape.

For my second card I made a Triple Stamping card.  I've made a few of these in the past, but never with circles, so this was a sort of experiment.  I used the Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' dies to die cut two white circles and two green circles.  I layered the two white circles in the centre of the square piece of white card with repositionable adhesive.  I stamped all over with stamps from the Stampin' Up 'Flower Shop' and 'Thoughtful Blooms' sets.   I coloured in all the large flowers with two red Promarkers.  I layered up the circles and both green circles are attached with foam tape to add some dimension.  The sentiment is a stamp from the SU 'Best Year' set.  The Flower Shop stamps are a preloved set I recently bought and as they are NBUS to me I'll be joining in Darnell's NBUS Challenge.

Last weekend I should have been at a Stampin' Up Crafty Retreat.  However, due to the current situation this was not possible.  Instead we had a one day Lockdown Crafty Retreat using Zoom.  All the materials were sent out and these are the card I made during our Zoom meeting.

Summer Scene

A masculine birthday card to share today.

I created a scene using Stampin' Up 'My Meadow' set of stamps and various ink pads and layered on a brown mat.  I used Memory Box 'Puffy Clouds' die cuts to make a mask when I was inking the sky. The background is patterned paper with a delicate circle pattern, which shows up more in real life.

Silver Baubles

A few CAS Christmas cards today to add to my growing pile ready for this year.

I die cut the background with a Creative Dies 'Wonky Stitches' rectangular die.  The die cut baubles were cut using silver mirror card.  The die cut was too long for the 6" x 4" card so I chopped off the bottom bauble.  A silver sentiment peeloff finished off my card.

I made a couple of other cards using purple/silver and navy/silver.   I'll be batch making a few more of these as they were really quick and easy to make.

Lantern Card

Following on from my last post, here is the lantern card I made during a Zoom meeting with crafty friends on Saturday.  Most friends were scrapbooking, but I had fun making these. There are lots of instructions for lantern cards online, but the ones I followed are HERE.  This was actually the second lantern card I made on Saturday.  The first one came out much bigger than I expected at 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" when folded, so I adjusted the measurement and this one is about 5" x 5".

The patterned paper is from a paper pad called 'Riverbank Revels'.  Everything apart from the ribbon and the large square of  patterned paper was from my snippets drawer.  I knew all those little scraps of patterned paper would be useful one day!

I made the flowers with punches....

.....and the hearts and circles were made with punches too.  The card folds flat for posting.

Here is the first, larger card I made, which I'll probably keep as a sample to remind me how to make them.

White and Gold

I had a lovely day today, a six hour Zoom session crafting with friends online.  We usually meet once a month in a school hall, but since lockdown this hasn't been able to happen.   Most of my crafty friends were scrapbooking today, but I was making a few cards.  I worked out how to make a lantern card, a fold I've been meaning to make for a while. I'll try and take a photo tomorrow when the light is better.

Onto today's card, a quick and simple Christmas card I've made during lockdown.

The embossing folder is Apple Blossom's 'Merry Christmas'.  After embossing a white piece of card and attaching to a slightly larger card base,  I used the embossing folder again with a snippet of gold mirror card across the middle part, cut along the curved edges and layered over the white card.  I added a row of white Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Good luck with your op!

A masculine card today which I sent to a friend before he had an op to wish him good luck.

I love using this Dr Digi 'Night Nurse Nina' digi stamp as it's great for masculine or feminine cards.   I coloured the image with Promarkers before die cutting with a stitched rectangles die and layering on a die cut mat.  The background was embossed with a Sue Wilson 'Zig Zag Squares' embossing folder and I added three blue Card Candi.

Cross-stitched Card

I sent this card a couple days ago for a card swap, which I can share on my blog now that I know it's reached its destination.

I die cut a scalloped white square with a Spellbinders
'Lacey Square' die.  I used a Marianne Designs cross-stitch die to cut all the holes in the middle.  I cross-stitched the flower using crochet cotton and matted the scalloped square on a Memory Box 'Stitched Square Layers' die cut.  I added a strip of brown ribbon to match the centre of the flower.  The layered sentiment is raised up on foam pads.

Last Sunday I joined in a Stampin' Up Zoom meeting with a few crafty friends.  All the materials were sent out to everyone and we all completed our cards and chatted at the same time.  It wasn't the same as meeting face to face, but it was the second best thing.   These are my two cards.

Bluebirds

Welcome to my new follower, I hope you can stop by my blog again soon.  Please leave me a comment with a link to your blog so I can follow you too.

A CAS card today.
The image is a Die-namites 'Birds on a Branch'  die cut.  I used the die again with blue card and snippeted off the birds and layered them over the green die cut.  The layered sentiment is raised up on foam pads.

Dancing Sunflower

The Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today with the theme of  'Flowers'.   Our generous sponsor this month is Lemon Shortbread.

Lemon Shortbread kindly gave the DT images to work with and it's no surprise that I chose the beautiful 'Dancing Sunflower'.   I coloured the image with Promarkers, before layering on a slightly larger yellow rectangle.  I used a green metallic stamp pad and a small sunflower stamp to stamp all over the green background.  You can't really see it in the photo, but IRL it sparkles, especially when it catches the light.  The sentiment is computer generated and a finished off my card with a few MFT 'Musical Notes' die cuts.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge end on June 28th, so plenty of time join in the challenge.  Please pop over to the challenge blog to see all the beautiful cards the DT have made this month.

Flour

Well.... I've taken the plunge and I've clicked the button to try out the new blogger format on this post to test it out.

I made today's card for a friend who left me a bag of flour on my doorstep as a RAK. She knew I had been trying for ages to find some and it took a little detective work to work out who had left me the flour. In these difficult times, it's the little things that can mean such a lot. Who would have thought a few months ago that I could have got so excited about a bag of flour! A banana and walnut cake was soon in the oven!

The patterned paper is from an old Dovecraft paper pad.  I die cut a white square with a wonky stitched die and layered it on a pink square.  The cupcake was made with a Dovecraft punch.  The top of the cupcake was embossed with a Cuttlebug 'Tiny Bubbles' embossing folder to add some texture and raised up on foam pads.  The sentiment is a peeloff.  I used snippets for the white square and cupcake, so I'll be sharing my card over in The Playground.

Baaaaa!

It's a friend's birthday today and she loves anything 'sheep' related.   This is the card I made for her. We spent a lovely couple of hours this morning socially distancing in her garden with a couple of other friends.  It was lovely to do something 'normal' now some of the lockdown restrictions have been lifted in the UK.  We won't be visiting any beaches or anywhere busy for quite a while though!

My design was inspired by cards I saw on Kath's blog HERE and HERE.  I die cut Tattered Lace 'Sheep Border' and placed on a rectangle of turquoise card.  I used a scoreboard to emboss three stripes above and below where the sheep were going to go.  I turned the card over and attached the sheep in the gap.  The sentiment was layered and raised up on foam pads.  Three pearls finished off my card.
