Cats

A CAS card to share today using one of my favourite stamps.

The image is Little Claire Designs, 'Swirly Whirly - Cats' and I coloured the cats with Promarkers.  The sentiment is a freebie stamp which came with a magazine a while ago.  I used Lisa Horton's 'Scallop Layered Squares' for matting and layering.

Leaping Deer

Another Christmas card to share today.

I started by die cutting a circle in a piece of  red card, then embossed it with a Couture Creations 'Mini Poinsettia' embossing folder. Using a Memory Box 'Stitched Scalloped Circle' and a circle die, I made a white frame which I attached around the aperture.  I backed the aperture with red card, before sticking the embossed card to the card blank.  The reindeer is a Memory Box 'Leaping Deer' die cut.  A layered sentiment and three tiny white pearls finished off my card.

Two Christmas Cards

I made these cards for the Rudolph Days August Challenge challenge, but Maureen is unwell so the next challenge will be in September.  Wishing you a speedy recovery, Maureen.  I thought I'd share the cards anyway today, they both use the same technique.

I cut a mat with patterned paper slightly smaller than the card blank.  I used a Poppystamps 'Vesha Ornament' die in a piece of white card to create an aperture.  The top of the bauble is silver mirror card and I used a fineliner pen to draw the string.  The white card was embossed with a Crafter's Companion 'Snowflakes' embossing folder. The embossed layer was raised up to add some dimension.  I didn't have any card the correct shade for the sentiment mat to match the patterned paper, so I coloured a snippet of white card with a blue Promarker.

I used a Poppystamps 'Snow Flocked Tree' die on this card to make the aperture.  As the Crafter's Companion text embossing folder has lots of Christmas greeting, I didn't add another.  Three red pearls finished off my card.

Hedgehog Family

I came home yesterday from a lovely long weekend in London with my daughter, Jo.  We should have been at concert on Saturday, but it was cancelled for a second time due to Covid, so we decided to keep the hotel booking anyway.  Jo asked what I would like to do or would I like her to surprise me.  I went for the surprise and she planned a packed weekend including a West End Show, a trip on a barge to Camden Market, a ride underground on the Mail Rail train, a walking tour of Hampstead, with the highlight being the climb over the Millennium Dome (I still can't believe I did that!), after crossing the River Thames in a cable car.  The view from the top of the dome was amazing.

So onto my card, which I can post on my blog now I know it's been received.  It was made for someone who loves pink and hedgehogs.

The background was stencilled with a Lavina 'Feather Leaf' stencil and Distress Ink.  The stamps are also from Lavina, 'The Wallace Family' and 'Mushroom Lantern Set'.  I added some extra colour to the mushroom using the same pink ink pad.  I put some of the ink on an acrylic block, spritzed it with a little water and painted over the head of the mushroom with a paintbrush.  The sentiment is from a Happy Little Stampers set of stamps.  Three pink pearls finished off my card.

The Final Twofer Challenge

This month is the last Twofer Challenge so I wanted to make sure I joined in.  The theme this month is 'Dog/Cat'.  I decided to use my favourite cat stamp on both cards, an old wood mounted stamp by Hobby Art, 'Daisy Cat'.  Before I show my cards I think I need to explain the black cat on my Good Luck card.  In the UK a black cat crossing your path is good luck, although I know in many other parts of the world it's considered bad luck.

I am joining in the Twofer Challenge with this pair of cards.

My first card is a Get Well card.  I used a paw print border punch for the panel down the side.  The sentiment is a stamp from the SU 'Humming Along' set.   I coloured the image with Promarkers and used Lisa Horton's 'Scallop Layered Rectangles' for matting and layering.  Three tiny pink pearls finished off my card.

I cut off part of the front of the card and attached the paw print panel on the inside of the back of the card.

My second card is a Good Luck in cream and black.  The image was coloured with Promarkers and I added three tiny green pearls to the necklace.  This time I used Memory Box 'Stitched Oval Rectangle Layers' for matting and layering.  The background is embossed with a Creative Expressions 'Pawprint Lattice' embossing folder.  I put a strip of ribbon across the bottom and added a sentiment.

Fishes and Flowers

Two cards to share today.

The first card was for my 11 year old great nephew, who was recently awarded a school prize.  SO proud of him!  He saves all my cards and especially likes working out how I make fancy fold cards.   I have made a few of these Bay Window cards recently and I'm sure this one won't be the last.  You can find easy to follow instructions HERE.

The paper and stamps are all from Stampin' Up and I fussy cut the whale from a piece of patterned paper.  I used brads to keep the card in the right position when it's stood up.

The card folds flat for posting.

For my second card, I used a Lisa Horton 'Blooming Peony' 3D embossing folder.  I inked over the raised part with purple Distress Ink and coloured the centres with a green Promarker.  The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up 'Humming Along' set of stamps, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Verdant'.  I added a strip of purple ribbon and layered it on a purple mat.

I Have An Attitude.....

Sharing a card today with one of my favourite stamps - it makes me smile every time I use it.  I bought it many years ago to make a birthday card for my daughter when she was a teenager and I've used it lots of times since. xx

The stamp is an old wood mounted Funstamp, 'Fairy with Attitude' which I'm sure was probably discontinued many years ago.  I coloured her with Promarkers and added a little sparkle to her crown, wings and the star on her wand with a glitter brush.  The panel is a Memory Box 'Piestra Tile' die cut and the stamp is from a Happy Little Stampers set.  I layered the white card on a bright pink mat and finished off my card with three punched glitter card stars.

Open Z Fold Card

This is a new fold to me, which I was told is an Open Z Fold card.

The patterned paper is from an old Papermania paper pad.  I used a Lisa Horton's 'Padded Quilt' embossing folder and the flower and leaf die cuts are from Lisa's first box magazine.  I added tiny white pearls in the centre of all the flowers.  I've left one panel plain inside for somewhere to write the message.

The card folds flat for posting and measures 5" x 5". The pale blue and white card was from my snippets drawer, so I'll be sharing my card over in The Playground.  The 'As You Like It' challenge asks which is our favourite primary colour and why.  For me it has to be blue as the football team we support plays in blue and white.

Joy Fold Card

We've been away in our caravan for just over a week.  Sorry I haven't left many comments when I've been blog visiting - blame it on the very hit and miss WiFi on the site.

I'm sharing a Joy Fold birthday card today, which I made for a crafty friend.  I'm hoping it reached its destination for her birthday yesterday.

The patterned papers are from a Papermania paper pad, with the colour especially chosen for the recipient.  I used cream with the turquoise to give the card a softer look.  The doily in the centre is a Memory Box 'Amana Circle' die cut and I added a flower brad in the centre.  The card is kept closed with a plain brad.  I added three punched flowers with tiny pearls in the centres and a sentiment stamped with Versafine Clair 'Warm Breeze'

The card opens up to reveal the cream panel to write the message.

Crafty Calendar Challenge

The Crafty Calendar August Challenge begins today with the theme 'Anything Goes'. Our generous sponsor this month is  All Dressed Up,

Our sponsor kindly gave the DT digi images to work with and I chose to use Jam Jars.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and used Lisa Horton's 'Scallop Layered Squares' for matting and layering.  The background was embossed with a Sue Wilson 'Dotty Daisy' embossing folder.  I attached a strip of dotty ribbon across the middle and three pink Card Candi.  The layered image is attached with foam pads.

The challenge ends on the 28th August so plenty of time to join in the challenge.  Please pop over to the Crafty Calendar Challenge blog to see all the beautiful creations the DT have made.

Black and White

I made a masculine card yesterday to join in with a few challenges. Having recently discovered this Bay Window fold, it has become one of my favourite ones to make.

All three designer papers are from Anna Marie Designs.  The yacht is one of the Poppystamps 'Marina Sailboats' dies and I've added three tiny black pearls for added interest.  Three silver brads keeps the 'window' in place while the card is displayed.

The card folds flat for posting and measures 7" x 5".

Shades of Green

A monochrome card to share today using shades of green.

The background was embossed with an Embossalicious 'Floral Frenzy' embossing folder.  The front of the card was cut diagonally and covered in a piece of green and white dotty paper from a Papermania 'Secret Garden' paper pad.  The flowers and leaves dies are from a Lisa Horton box magazine.  I hand cut the sentiment banner.

Elephant Card

A second post today, please scroll down to see my earlier post.

I made this birthday card for a friend who loves elephants.

I used a Sizzix Elephant Fold-a-Long die.

The card opens up to reveal the space to put the sentiment and message.  I used pink and white patterned paper from a Dovecraft paper pad for the two panels inside.

Quad Easel Card

The current Butterfly Challenge is Q for Quad Easel Card.  Mrs A has put all the instructions HERE for making the card.  As the card will need a 'large' stamp if it's posted, I decided to use a slightly larger card blank to give a little more room for the easels. (The base is a card blank which opens up to write the message.)  I included all the elements of the challenge Quad Easel Card/ Quartz "Gems"/ Quinacridone/Quick Sand/Quince + Butterfly.
(Gems  = Clear stones, Quinacridone  = Magenta, Quick Sand = Light Yellow, Quince = Green.

I started by sticking a 6" x 6" sheet of the patterned paper to a 7" square card blank.  The patterned paper is from a Kaisercraft paper pad, which came as a magazine cover gift several years ago.  The butterflies are Poppystamps 'Elsa Butterfly' and 'Lyndon Butterfly'.  I added three square clear gems in the corner of each little square.

This is the view from above.

The pale yellow card was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder with little flowers on.  The sentiment panels are raised up on foam pads to act as a stopper for the easels.

The card folds flat for posting. (The bulldog clips are just there to keep the card flat for taking the photo.)
