Gift Card/Money Holder

A few gift card/money holders I made recently.  I used the instructions for the design HERE by Lesley Kilby.

The first one was for a garden centre gift token, so I gave this one a floral theme.   The flower was made with dies from the Sue Wilson 'Passion Flower' set, layered on Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' die cuts.  The patterned papers are from a paper pad from The Works.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

The second card uses patterned paper from a paper pad from The Range.

This one contained money, but when I tried to crop the photo, my editing software recognised that there were English bank notes in the photo and wouldn't open it.  I really wasn't taking a photo of bank notes so I that could print my own! 🤣

The last one was for friends who celebrated a special anniversary recently and are going on a river cruise soon to celebrate, so this one had a nautical theme.  I thought it would be a nice idea to give the couple Euros to buy something special on their holiday to remind them of their special anniversary.  The patterned paper is from a paper pad from The Works. I decorated the front of the card with a Poppystamps 'Marine Sailboat' die cut, layered on Memory Box 'Stitched Rectangle Layers' die cuts.  The sentiment is a stamp from a Happy Little Stampers stamp set.

My editing software obviously thinks it's okay to print Euro notes! 🤣

Allsorts Challenge ~ Anything But Square

A new Allsorts Challenge begins today and Lorraine has chosen the theme of  'Anything But Square'.  The challenge this time will run for two week.  As I haven't made one for a long time, I decided to make a Bridge Fold Card for my DT card.

It was my daughter's birthday this month and this is the card I made for her.  The patterned paper was from a paper pad from The Works.  I used a Marianne Design cross stitching die and the cross stitching was done with crochet cotton.

This fortnight there will be two winners who will win a fabulous prize from Craft Stash. Winners will be announced on Friday 25th August.

Christmas in July

I can't believe it's time for the Rudolph Days July Challenge.... where has the last seven months gone!  I watched a video on the Nifty Noodles Crafting Facebook page today and this is the fold that was demonstrated.  I adjusted the measurements slightly so I could get make the card base out of an A4 sheet of card.

The  patterned paper is from a 12" x 12" paper pad from The Works which I bought last year.  I just about had enough snippets left of these two designs to make the card without cutting into a new sheet, so I'll be sharing my card over in The Playground.  The Christmas tree in the corner is punched and raised up on foam pads.

The snowflakes are Memory Box 'Twilight Snowflakes' die cuts, more snippets!  I decided to put a panel inside for the message, so die cut two rectangles with Memory Box 'Stitched Rectangle Layers' dies.  The sentiment is a SU stamp, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Blue Belle'.

The card folds flat for posting and measures 6" x 4".

Thinking of You

I spent yesterday with a local craft group I belong to.  I managed to batch make twelve more Christmas cards in this design, using up snippets of blue, green, purple and red.  I also got a cross stitched design made to make into another card later this week.  It's mainly a scrapbooking and mixed media group, but there are a couple of card makers and there is always lots of chatting and laughter and plenty of inspiration as we look at what everyone is making.

Today I've made two sympathy cards, one for my sister-in-law and one for her mother, on the loss of a much loved father and husband.  I decided to make two similar cards, just reversing the colours.

I bought this Sue Wilson 'Butterfly Rectangle' die recently in a sale (a bargain that was too good to resist 😉) and this is the first time I've used it.  The set comes with several dies, including the butterfly frame and the matching mat.  The little flowers are punched and I added tiny pink pearls in the centres.  The sentiment is a Woodware stamp, stamped in Versafine Clair 'Morning Mist'.

For the second card I placed the little flowers in a triangle, but I think I prefer them in a straight line.

The butterflies are enjoying their summer recess in the Butterfly Challenge, so there is no special requirements this time.  A butterfly and flowers is all that's need to join in the challenge this month.

Allsorts Challenge ~ Summer Blues

Another Saturday and another Allsorts Challenge, this time hosted by Mervi. Mervi has chosen the theme 'Summer Blues'.  I decided to make a blue monochrome card.

The base card was covered with blue and white floral paper, with about a third of the front cut off. The blue leaves and vase were stamps from the Stampin' Up 'Boho Indigo' set, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Blue Belle'.  The vase it raised up with foam pads and three little white flowers added.  The layered sentiment is also raised up on foam pads.

I put a layered panel inside for the message and stamped a few flowers in the corner.

Butterfly Stepper Card

The current Butterfly Challenge finishes in a few days and I've finally got a card made for the challenge.  This time the challenge is just to include a butterfly, so I've made a card with a butterfly as the focal point.

The base card was made with a Presscut 'Centre Stepper Card' die.  The patterned papers are from a paper pad from The Works and I used two Memory Box dies, 'Darla Butterfy' and 'Vivienne Butterfly' to make the butterfly.  I added a layered sentiment and five pink Card Candi.

Allsorts Challenge ~ Summer Mood Board

The Allsorts Challenge this week has the theme 'Summer Mood Board'.  I decided to go with summer flowers and this is my DT card.

I found the instructions for this style of card over in Beccy's Place and it's really easy to make.  I used a Marianne Design 'Cross Stitch Circle' die and the cross stitching was done with crochet cotton.  I used Memory Box stitched circles/scalloped dies for matting and layering.  The patterned paper is from a paper pad from The Works.

Here is the Allsorts Summer Mood Board...... which photo will inspire you to make a card for Allsorts Challenge this week?  Looking forward to seeing what you create.

Snippet Busting

A little snippet busting this week.  Everything used for these four cards were snippets, except for the base cards.

The frame was die cut in black and again with pastel coloured card just in one of the strips each.  The coloured strips were inlaid in the frame.  The sentiment is an Impression Obsession die cut.

For my second card, I used a matt silver card blank, die cut the frame in white and used the same pastel coloured snippets as I used in the first card.

The Snippet Playground this time is to use snippets but with a twist of creating a Christmas project.  So, I made two Christmas cards using the same design as above, but with Christmas patterned paper inlaid.
The patterned paper for both these cards was from an old Dovecrafts Christmas 12 x 12 paper pad.  The sentiment was made with Sweet Dixie dies.

Long post!

I seem to be so behind with posting my cards on my blog, so this is going to be a photo heavy post to try and catch up.

First up is a Balcony Front Card
The patterned paper is from a paper pad which came as a cover gift with a magazine.  The balloons are Lin and Lene die cuts.

My next card is an Exploding Heart Card.
The front of the card was inspired by a sketch.  The background was embossed with a Lisa Horton's 'Pretty Leaves'  embossing folder. The patterned paper was from an old A4 paper pad.  I stamped a sentiment using a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Best Year' set.

When the card is opened, it reveals and exploding heart.  I added a layered plain panel for the message.

Next is a card I made for a friend who loves elephants.
The Spellbinder 'Lacy Square' die cut is the same shade of white as the background, but it's a stiffer card and looks a different shade in the photo.  I used a Marianne Design cross stitch die in the middle of the lacy square and used crochet cotton for the cross stitching.  Added a strip of elephant ribbon across the middle of the card for added interest.

My next card is a Gatefold Bay Card.
The patterned paper if from a paper pad from The Works.  The Lin and Lene starfish die cut is layered on Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' die cuts.

The seahorse was die cut with an old Sizzix die in silver holographic card.

This next card in one of my favourite colour combinations of red, black and white.
The background is a Stamp Addicts 'Beaded Curtain' stamp, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Nocture', with a few of the circles coloured with a red Promarker.  The sentiment is an Impression Obsession die cut and I added a few pearls.

Finally, my last card.
I used Stampin' Up 'Best Plaid Builder' dies for the tartan pattern.  The flower was made with punches and I stamped a sentiment with a Stampin' Up 'Best Year' stamp.

Allsorts Challenge ~ Embossing Folders

I was delighted to choose the theme for the Allsorts Challenge this week and I chose 'Embossing Folders'.  I wouldn't say that I have an embossing folder addiction, but I probably have enough to open my own shop! 😂

I made a Ruby Wedding Anniversary for friends who recently celebrated 40 years of married bliss.  The background was embossed with a Creative Expression 'Heart Lattice' embossing folder and layered on a red, pearlised mat.  I used a Memory Box 'Heart of Hearts' die with white card, layered it on a red, pearlised 'Stitched Scalloped Circle' die cut and raised it up on foam pads.   The sentiment was computer generated.

Prizes this month are from Oakwood, SizzixAALL and Create and Craft Stash, please visit our Patrons page to read more about each.

The DT have made some beautiful cards for inspiration which you can see on the Allsorts Challenge blog.  I hope you can get out your embossing folders and join in the challenge.  As always you can choose to use the Anything Goes option.

Crafty Calendar July Challenge

This is my third post today, please scroll down to see my other DT post and my GD post.

The July Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today with the theme of 'Anything Goes'.  Our generous sponsor this month is Polkadoodles.

I made a Hexagon Pop-Up Card, a fold I discovered recently on Beccy's Place blog and it's really easy to make.  Our sponsor kindly gave the DT images to work with and I chose the pre-coloured  Golf Gnome.  I used Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' die cuts for matting and layering the image.  I added three matt white pearls as I thought they looked a little golf balls.  The panels at the bottom are embossed with an Embossalicious 'Petite Dot' embossing folder.  I used the debossed side because it look like the pattern on a real golf ball.

The card folds flat for posting and fits into a 6" x 6" envelope.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge finishes on 28th July and the randomly chosen winner will win a prize from Polkadoodles and the DT will chose a Top 3.
