A CAS poppy card today. Poppies are significant in the UK as a symbol of remembrance, particularly at this time of year as Armistice Day is commemorated on November 11th.
I stamped the image, Stampendous 'Poppy stems' with a Memento ink pad before lining up the image in the embossing folder to ensure it was in the middle. The embossing folder I used was Couture Creations 'Bon Jour', which has a blank panel across the middle. I turned it round so the blank panel went down. The image was coloured with Promarkers. I added three red Card Candi and a sentiment to finish off the card.

I read this on Facebook during week, following the appalling decision by FIFA to ban the wearing of poppies by England and Scotland football teams when they play on Armistice Day:

This is a really elegant remembrance card Liz and I love your central panel with those beautifully coloured poppies and the pierced edges with that pretty embossing either side, and the three card candi finish it perfectly. What a thought provoking poem and perhaps the decision makers at FIFA need to read this poem too. x

This is very elegant and so richly designed. I am loving this EF, and it's a perfect way to show off these blazing poppies. Thanks for sharing the sentiment. Sounds like the UK is getting to be way too much like the USA. We should ALL of us, every single one, remember those who have fought & died for freedom in every country. It's not a political statement, it is just the RIGHT thing to do! Regardless of politics. These people fought &died so that our countries could offer free choices. TFS & thanks for this timely reminder!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card with those commemorative poppies and their special meaning. We call it veteran's day here in the states but it's also celebrated Nov 11th. I love the embossing and 3 candi dots too.

What a lovely way of using the embossed panel, perfect for this lovely card. The poem is beautiful and if only the people at FIFA could read and learn from it! I'm not a football fan like you but I'm still shocked and upset by FIFA's ruling about not wearing poppies.

This is a beautiful card and the design is just fantastic. Thank you for posting this from facebook. My husband and many others fought for our rights and freedom and this is such a simple way to honor them by wearing a poppy. How sad what this country is coming to.
