So..... onto my card. The optional theme this week is 'Use Colored Pencils on Kraft' (or 'coloured' pencils if you are in the UK, like me. LOL!) Hmmm.... I think I've only used Kraft card once, a long time ago, and I only possess a small box of cheap, children's, coloured pencils which definitely don't blend, so not a good start. However not wanting to be beaten by a challenge, I managed to find my pack of Kraft card and coloured pencils and here's what I came up with.
The image is a NBUS stamp from the Sweet Dixie 'Zendoodle RTG Flowers' set, stamped on Kraft card and coloured with my cheapy pencils. The image is attached with foam tape to raise it up. The result turned out to be not too bad, but luckily I got away without needing to blend the colours with this particular image. I used an old wood mounted Hobby Art stamp for the sentiment. The background is Kraft card, embossed with an Embossalicious e/f. I've had the folder for quite a while and I think it might be discontinued now,

Love the look of this Liz and your colouring looks fine to me! very pretty and the embossed background and the pink really set it all off.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. The kraft and the embossing go beautifully and no-one would know you'd used cheap pencils. I've only got cheap ones having had to draw the crafty line somewhere!

ReplyDeleteI have some kraft and after a huge search I have found two pencils, one yellow and one green one that needs sharpening, so goodness knows how I will go on. Oh I love that embossed background.

ReplyDeleteJust popped back to reply to your comment about the ink blob incident - I hate it when that happened but usually save the bits to use on some other card where a strategically placed embellishment can save the day. Hence I have a deep 12x12 box crammed full of mistakes waiting to be rectified.....

ReplyDeleteYou've shown what I love about coloUred pencils on kraft, Liv, even cheapy ones: the contrast between the color and the paperbag brown is just so lovely I think. Especially with flowers like you done here (beautifully matted with the banner sediment)! I used a 45 + yo set of 12 Berol colored pencils that the Mister had from his college days on my card. I have never done the stumps and Gamsol blending thing, but really do want to give that a go someday. Anyway, I applaud you and appreciate you for playing my NBUS Challenge and tackling the optional technique, too! Hugs, Darnell

ReplyDeleteYour kraft card is beautiful. I'm sorry to hear that embossing folder may be gone because it is lovely and so perfect with the flower stamp you chose. The card has a soft shine to it. It may be how the photo was taken, but it is so pretty. Your coloring is great.
