Rugby and another Christmas card

My great nephew celebrated his 12th birthday recently and asked us for a rugby ball for his birthday present.   This seemed the perfect image to use for his birthday card.

The image is an old Jolly Nation stamp, coloured with Promarkers. The patterned papers are from a Papermania 'True Blue' paper pad.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card.

My second card is Christmas card, another Bay Window card, this time with a gnome.  Gnomes seem to be very on trend again this Christmas.
The image and sentiment are from the Chocolate Baroque 'A Tomte Christmas' set of stamps.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and the patterned paper is from a paper pad from the The Works.  The panel on the right is raised up with foam tape to enable bay window to stay in place.  I finished off my card with a few red pearls round the image and three Memory Box 'Twilight Snowflakes'.

  2. The gnomes make a fun card and I love the bay window shape which you obviously enjoy making Liz, and more bright and pretty papers. The card for Gilby is great with the rugby theme to go with his present and using this fun JN image and finished with a lovely personalised CG sentiment. x

  7. Gosh, I'd forgotten all about Jolly Nation images but this one is just right to match the gift. Like the way some of your patterned paper echoes the rugby ball shape. Who doesn't just love a gnome - this is a great card too.

    1. My Bay Window card starts with two 7” x 5” pieces of card. The front piece is scored at 1/2”. I then work out how wide I want the main panel with the image and adjust the other two panels depending on the size of the main panel. So, supposing your main panel was 3” wide, from left to right the panels would measure 1/2”, 1 3/4”, 3”, 1 3/4”. Just the 1/2” panel is attached to the back piece. Here is a link for the instructions for making a Bay Window Card. https://creativemindskindhearts.blogspot.com/2021/07/karen-watling-shows-how-to-make-bay.html

    1. The Christmas gnomes in Sweden are the Tomte, who look a lot like the Santa Claus that many of us know today. These gnomes usually wear grey clothing, and they’re always watching over you to see how well you behave.

You can only meet the Tomte during Christmas time, and often they’ll share rhymes when handing out presents.

Even Iceland has its own version of the Christmas gnome in the form of the 13 Yuletide lads who come to the town bearing gifts and sweets. These creatures appear one a day on the 13 days before Christmas and leave one by one too — making the season last a full 26 days.
