Welcome to my new follower, Mary McMillan of Glitter Grammy Plays With Paper. I hope you can visit my blog again soon.
I'm catching up with a few challenges after suffering with a heavy cold for the last few days. I haven't felt much like crafting and am behind with my blog visiting, so hopefully I can find time to visit my favourite blogs this week to see what everyone has been creating.

The Butterfly Challenge finishes today and I was determined to join in this time as I've missed the last couple of challenges.
The panel was made with a Memory Box 'Lucienne Tile' die in pale pink and matt silver, with three tiny clear gems added along the panel. I die cut the butterfly using Memory Box 'Pippi' and 'Isabella' dies. The sentiment is stamped with a silver VersaColor ink pad. I finished off my card with a grey fineliner pen to draw the flight path of the butterfly.

The theme of the Twofer Challenge this month is 'Hearts', two cards, with different designs, for different occasions using the same die, stamp or stencil.
The heart I used for both cards is a die from the Spellbinders 'Lace Hearts' set of dies.
I am joining in the Twofer Challenge #23 with this pair of cards.
For my first card I used two of the dies, one cutting the outline and one cutting the lattice part. I added a small punched red heart in the middle. The heart was layered on Memory Box 'Stitched Square Layers' die cuts. I cut off half of the front of the card blank and added a triangle of red card, embossing with an Xcut 'Polka Hearts' embossing folder. The sentiment is computer generated, die cut with a Memory Box 'Stitched Rectangle Layers' die.
This photo show the card open.

For my second card, I used the waste from the heart die cut in my last card as a stencil. Using an Adirondack 'Denim' ink pad and a blending brush, I inked through the heart shaped aperture. The Spellbinders 'Feathers' die cut was attached with foam pads to add some dimension. The sentiment was stamped with Versafine 'Onyx Black'.
I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

ReplyDeleteHi, Liz! I'm glad you're feeling better; so sorry you've been poorly with a nasty cold. Your cards are all gorgeous! Really loving the dies you used and the colour combo on the first card! I like the cool design of the second card, and I absolutely love the simplicity of the third card and how you made your own stencil. I have a feather die set and have never used it but I really like what you did! Thanks for inspiring!
ReplyDeleteHope you are soon feeling better Liz, there have been some really nasty viruses this winter, hopefully this cold snap will deal with them!! What lovely cards you are sharing, I love the simplicity of the first "Just for you". What a great idea to use die cut "waste" as a stencil...must remember that xx
ReplyDeleteSorry you've been poorly Liz, a lot of nasty bugs going round right now, so many of my friends have been down with really horrid flu symptoms.
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy creating some gorgeous cards, the butterfly one is so pretty in those delicate shades of pink and grey. The 'twofers' are fabulous, great use of your dies!
xx
Three lovely cards Liz. I’ve had that cold too! Thanks for joining us at Cardz for Galz.
ReplyDeleteHope your feeling better by the day. Your card is lovely and I feel very honoured that you wanted to come and play even though under the weather. That butterfly set is my favourite one to use. I really had to smack my hand when making the cards for the next challenge so as not to use it. I managed to use a Dutch stamp instead. Thankyou for coming along and playing. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better now Liz, these nasty bugs have a habit of lingering on sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSome fabulous cards here, lovely designs.

ReplyDeleteI love your pretty butterfly and ornate MB panel dies and love the pink and grey combination Liz, and also your Twofers which are fantastic and the scalloped trellis heart is gorgeous in red and such a great shape to the card, and what a wonderful idea to use the cut out shape to make a heart on the other with the added feather and the sentiment goes perfectly. I hope you are beginning to feel better now as there are some nasty bugs around at the moment. x

ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better Liz, so much going around everywhere. Just picked up my granddaughter at school today because she was running a fever. Your butterfly card is gorgeous! I love the colors you chose, that die cut border panel is so pretty and of course I am loving that butterfly. What great twofer's too! Love the heart die you used, it is so elegant looking and I love the added heart in the center of your red card. Your second card is equally beautiful, I love the feather you used and I love the way you used the heart on this one. Always can use thinking of you card! Job well done! Hugs, Brenda

ReplyDeleteYour Twofer cards are, as always, so wonderfully executed and great examples of the concept! That is a really cool shaped card design for your pretty lacy Valentine heart! I love the red and white and texture from your embossing. And I love how you made your own stencil from the die frame to blend a heart on your TOY design. The overlaid feather is a tender touch. Thank you so much for playing in Twofer's 2nd Blogaversary challenge! Hugs, Darnell

ReplyDeleteOh Liz! That horrid cold has made the rounds in our family, too. I was wretchedly sick over the holidays and never even got the tree up this year!! As to your Twofer...That Valentine is just lovely! Very, very cool design, and in perfect Valentine colors. The lattice aspect of your heart is sweet and along with the Swiss dots, on your red panel, adds wonderful dimension. Great way to 'turn a negative into a positive!!' Love the stenciled heart in that pretty blue, and the feather is the perfect finishing touch. Two great cards. Thanks for joining us at the Twofer Challenge. xo Bev
