Bambi

Now, I'm not usually a person who does découpage, in fact I've never done it before.  All that cutting out seemed a bit fiddly for me, but a free gift with a magazine I received yesterday was a Découpage and Paper Pack.  So, sat in front of the TV last night, I decided to cut out some of the pieces. I'm sure I remember a quote about  idle hands being a bad thing!  I quite liked the patterned papers in the pack, so this is the card I came up with.
The little deer had six layers including the base layer.  I wasn't sure of what to use to attach the layers, so I used foam pads, cutting some of them up into tiny pieces for the legs.  I seem to remember seeing silicone glue being used for découpage, but as I didn't have any, I had to make do with foam pads.

  1. Oh Liz this is so beautiful and so cute. You have well my friend.
And indeed silicone glue works best (my personal opinion) and I don't glue everything. If you make your image a bit round over a pensil or so you just need to put glue in the middle and layer after layer falls nicely over the other one without seeing any foam at the edges. Hope you get the meaning it's difficult to explain in english. Have a nice weekend Liz, love Veerle xxx

    1. Thanks for the tips Veerle. I'll try curling it next time. I was worried that the legs are so thin that they might break off if I didn't attach them. xx

  4. Hi Liz! Mine arrived today and I can't wait to have a try out. I actually prefer foam pads to silicone glue - sometimes the glue seeps through papers and leaves a sort of greasy mark.

this really is just so pretty!!

    1. I wonder if it would work if I used silicone glue on all the layers except the top one and just used foam pads for the final one. The glue wouldn't soak through then. xx

  6. It's fab Liz! The tiny Bambi is adorable and is very pretty with those papers. That was a lot of fiddly cutting I'm sure, but you did a great job with it. I like the foam pads - but I've seen it done with some sort of clear silicone stuff too. Loved the look of this as a step card. TFS & Hugs

  7. Lovely card Liz. I sometimes use foam pads and sometimes silicon glue and sometimes Pinflair glue! It all depends on image I'm using and whether I want to curl the shape a bit.

  8. Hi Liz, beautiful decoupage image, lovely colours, I only use foam pads as I found after a while the silicone seeped through, I would have used a bit of wet pva on the legs..
if you siliconed your bottom layers you would have to wait for them to set before adding your top layer..
