Zemira

Another CAS card to share today.

The image is a Lavinia stamp, 'Zemira', stamped with Versafine Clair 'Nocture'.  I covered her with a mask to stop the stencilling showing through the silhouette before stencilling with a Lavinia Stamp 'Pebbles' using Distress Ink.  I added a few tiny white pearls and layered the image on a black mat.

CAS

A CAS card to share today.

I die cut a rectangle in a piece of  white card to make and aperture using a Sue Wilson 'Double Pierced Rectangle' die.  A snippet of white card was coloured by blending blue and green Distress Oxides.  I laid a stencil over the top, spritzed with water and blotted with a piece of kitchen roll.  When it was dry, I attached it to the card blank.  The flower is a Poppystamps 'Kirby Blooms' die cut.  The sentiment is a stamp from Happy Little Stampers 'Dandelion Wishes' set, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Warm Breeze'.  The top card with the aperture was attached with foam tape to add some dimension.

New Home by the Sea

A friend recently moved across to the other side of the country and will be living by the sea, near her daughter.  I wanted to make the sea themed card and this is what I came up with.

The 'sand' is gold glitter card and I used mottled blue card for the sky.  I die cut three Joanna Sheen 'Beach Huts' and backed them with matt silver paper.  The clouds are Memory Box 'Puffy Clouds' and I used a Memory Box 'Oceana Border' die for the waves.  The sentiment was typed on the computer and layered on a gold glitter card mat.

Sunflower Interlocking Gatefold Card

A birthday card today for someone who loves Sunflowers.

I made this card with an interlocking circle across the middle of the card to keep the card closed.  The Cheery Lynn 'Sunflower' was layered on Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' die cuts.  The patterned paper is from an old Papermania paper pad, the sentiment from Lisa Horton's box kit and I added three tiny punched flowers to the front.

For the interlocking part, I folded an extra die cut circle in half and attached it the back of the decorated circle.  When the card is closed the right hand side of the card slips in the folded circle.  I hope that makes sense!  I put an extra little punched sunflower inside for added interest.

Rudolph

The July Rudolph Days Challenge began yesterday and runs until the end of the month.  It's been a few weeks since I last made a Christmas card, so a perfect opportunity to get back on track making them.

I used preloved Creative Expressions 'Dasher Deer' stamps, which I inked up for the first time. The image is coloured with Promarkers.  I die cut the image/sentiment and kraft card with Lisa Horton's Scallop Layered Rectangles and corner rounded the red mat.   A few tiny red pearls finished of my card.

Bay Window Card

It was my daughter's birthday this week and this is the card I made for her.   When I saw the instructions for a Bay Window card HERE I thought I'd give it a try.   It's a new fold to me and the fold is so much easier to make than it looks.  I decided to use three brads to keep the 'window' in the right place when the card is stood up.

The papers are from an old Papermania paper pad.  The sentiment was typed on the computer, leaving room for a Memory Box 'Pippi Butterfly' and die cut using a Memory Box 'Stitched Square Layers' die.  I decided to use three brads to keep the 'window' in the right place when the card is stood up.

Although I handed the card to my daughter, this design folds flat for posting.

Glasgow Rose Joy Fold Card

A Joy Fold birthday card to share today.

I used an old favourite Francoise Read 'Glasgow Rose Garden' wood mounted stamp,  stamped with Memento 'Tuxedo Black' and coloured with Promarkers.  The front panel was embossed with a Creative Expressions 'Art Deco Rose Swirl' embossing folder.  The sentiment is a stamp from the Woodware 'Deco Sayings'. I added three white pearls and brad to keep the card closed.

The card opens to reveal a panel to write the sentiment and a tiny, stamped Glasgow Rose which came with a magazine some time ago.

Twofer ~ Birds

The Twofer Challenge this month is 'Birds'...... two cards with different designs, for two different occasions, using the same stamp, die or stencil.  I used an old Dreamweaver 'Owl' metal stencil on both my cards.  I made a birthday card and a card for a card swap, so I hope that counts as two different occasions.  The stencil is quite a large one which takes up most of the card, but I tried to make the designs as different as I could.

I am joining in the Twofer Challenge #40 with this pair of cards.

The first card I made was for a card swap, which I can post on my blog now that I know it's been received.  I drew the outline with a black fineliner pen.  I haven't done any Zentangling for a long time, so decided to use this technique on my card.  I used Lisa Horton 'Scallop Layered Rectangle' dies for matting and layering.  The sentiment stamp was from the Happy Little Stampers 'Birthday Friends' set of stamps and I raised the sentiment up on foam pads.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

For my second card, I inked through the stencil with Distress Ink and used a brown fineliner pen around the edge of all the parts of the owl.  The birthday sentiment, stamped with Versafine 'Acorn', was a stamp from the SU 'Vertical Greetings' set of stamps.  I added a couple of brown Card Candi to finish off my card.

Fishing

A masculine birthday card today.

The patterned paper was from a Dovecraft 'True Blue' paper pad.  I added a strip of ric rac to follow the theme of the water.   The Lili of the Valley image was stamped with Memento 'Tuxedo Black', coloured with Promarkers and layered on a navy mat, raised up on foam pads.

Corner Bookmarks

I haven't made any corner bookmarks for a quite a while, but it was a good way of using up some of the mountain of snippets I seem to have accumulated.  For those in the UK, you possibly may have heard that there is an important football final today 😉.  So, I decided to make a England football themed corner bookmark.

The bookmarks slide over the corner of the page to keep your place.

I decided to make a few more,  a Lego bookmark.....

.....and an Angry Bird one.

Here are a few others I've made this week.

I personalised these by adding initials, a name and something relating to a hobby.
I didn't set out to make so many this week, but they did become a bit addictive to make!  I think most of them will go to my great nieces and great nephew to share with their friends.

If you've never made these before, they are so easy to make and a fun activity for children to do too.  I've written some instructions for how I make mine.

1. Start with a square of card, I used a 6” x 6” square for the bookmarks above, but the size of the square can be adjusted to suit the design you are doing.   Draw lines on the card as shown in my template.

2. Cut off the parts marked in red on the template.  (Keep the offcuts for punched shapes or die cuts.) The remaining two lines are the fold lines.

3. Fold along the two lines, as shown.  Fold one triangle over the other, ensuring that they lie flat.  Trim the bottom triangle if necessary.

4. Add double-side tape or glue to the bottom triangle as shown. Add any decorations which stick out, such a tongue or teeth, to this triangle before folding the top triangle over and sticking it down firmly.  The bookmark is now ready to be decorated.

No full sheets of card were harmed making any of my corner bookmarks, so I'll be sharing them over in The Playground.

Plaited Fold

The current Butterfly Challenge is 'P for Plaited Fold'.  I've never seen this fold before, but thought I'd give it a go.  Mrs A has put the instructions HERE.  I decided to go with all the elements of the challenge..... Plaited  Fold/ Periwinkle/ Peach/Plum/Pairs + a Butterfly.

I originally planned to do the plaited fold in a white card blank, but it was a bit thick, so I found a snippet of pale blue card, folded it in half and did the plaited fold in that.  I used the white card blank, which I'd already ruined by trying unsuccessfully do the plaited fold, chopped it into two rectangles to add a front and back to my card.  So nothing was wasted. 😉 The embossing was done with a Lisa Horton 'Pretty Leaves' embossing folder.  I made a flower with a Cheery Lynn 'Sunflower' die and positioned it at the end of one of the embossed stems.  I added a pair of punched butterflies using tiny foam pads and added the flight path of one of them with a fineliner pen.  The sentiment is from the Happy Little Stampers 'Doodled Flowers' set of stamps and also raised up on foam pads.

Mini Milk Cartons

HAPPY 4TH JULY TO ALL MY AMERICAN VISITORS.

Welcome to my new followers, Sandra and Daniel of SanDryCreaciones.  I hope you can stop by my blog again soon.

As it's 4th July, I thought I'd share something red, white and blue today.   I was asked a couple of days ago to make some place names for a lunch with five friends. The lunch was to be held outside in a garden, so I needed to weight the place names so they wouldn't blow away. I decided to make mini milk cartons and fill them with chocolates.

As we all play badminton together, I used shuttlecock die cuts from the recently bought Sweet Dixie 'Badminton' set of dies to decorate the boxes.  I made the boxes this size so I could get two out of one A4 sheet of blue card and added little silver bulldog clips to the keep the boxes closed.  All the red and white card (apart from the printed names) were snippets, so I'll be sharing my little boxes over in The Playground.

CAS

It's the first Saturday of the month, so time for the July Crafty Calendar Challenge.  The theme this month is 'Anything Goes' and we are sponsored by Jan's Digi Stamps.

Our sponsor generously gave the DT digi stamps to work with and I chose a stamp from the Wild Flower Blossoms set.  I printed the image and positioned it the correct place in the Sizzix embossing folder.  After embossing, I coloured in the image with Promarkers and layered it on a purple mat.  To finish off my card, I added three tiny punched flowers.  I decided not to add a sentiment, but I will probably use it for a sympathy/thinking of you card.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge ends on 28th July, so plenty of time to join in.  Please pop over to the challenge blog to see all the wonderful cards the DT have made.  The DT will choose the Top 3 and a randomly chosen winner will digi stamps from Jan's Digi Stamps.
