Purples

A card today in my favourite colours of shades of purple.

The patterned paper is from a Papermania Pad.   I used a Marianne Designs cArt-Us Lacé die, which cuts the design ready to fold.  I backed the folded die cut with a cream circle. The butterfly is made using two Memory Box dies, 'Pippi Butterfly' and 'Isabella Butterfly'.   A few Card Candi finished off my card.

Penguin Card

A Christmas card today, using one of my favourite folds.

The card base is die cut with a Spellbinders 'Happy Days' die.  The patterned paper was left over from a previous project and I used a Creative Expression 'Snowflake Lattice' embossing folder.  The Christmas trees are punched and I added tiny gold stars to the top of the stars.

Let Go Fly A Kite.......

The current Butterfly Challenge is 'K for Kite Fold'.  The six elements are 'Kite Fold /Kilimanjaro (pale sky blue)/Kobi (light pink)/Kombu Green (dark sage)/Knots + a Butterfly.  I decided to include all six elements on my card.  Mrs A has put instructions for making a kite fold HERE.

The background is embossed with Embossalicious 'Clouds' embossing folder.  I used a Sizzix embossing folder on the front of the kite, added a tail with baker's twine, knotted in three places and added some little punched, pink butterflies.  I stamped three butterflies from the Stampin' Up 'Butterfly Gala' set of stamps, coloured them with Promarkers and fussy cut them.

I wanted the kite to stay tightly closed when displayed, so I added two tiny spider magnets to the inside of the folded kite.  The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up 'Painted Glass' set of stamps, stamped with Versafine 'Nocturne'.

Baaaa!

A spring card today with a cross-stitched little lamb.

The tag is an MFT die cut and I used crochet cotton for the cross-stitching.  The background was embossed with an Embossalicious 'Clouds' embossing folder.   A few Card Candi finished off my card.

Tulip Card

Another 'Pop Out Card' today.  I only discovered this fold recently, but I love that it has a slightly smaller card blank incorporated in the fold to leave plenty of room to write a message.

The patterned paper was a Stampin' Up snippet, left over from a previous project some time ago.  I embossed some small white card snippets with an SU embossing folder a friend gave me ten years ago, so I guess the folder has been discontinued by now.  The tulip was stamped with stamps from the SU 'Timeless Tulips' set and the flower head raised up on foam pads.  I added some faux stitching with a dark green fineliner pen.  The card folds flat for posting.

Ray of Light

After being told that my laptop would be repaired by the middle of next week, I had a call today from the lovely man at the computer shop to say it had been repaired and updated....... and he would deliver it back to me on his way home!  How is that for good customer service! 😀

A CAS card today.
In an attempt to use some of my older dies more I played around with my Sue Wilson's 'Ray of Light' die.  I bought it several years ago and I think I have used it just once before, so it was time it had another outing.  The yellow die cut was backed with a piece of blue ombré card and layered on a darker blue mat.  The sentiment was stamped in navy blue and layered on a yellow Memory Box 'Stitched Scalloped Circle' die cut.

Follow Your Dreams

My laptop decided to die on me this week and won't be fixed until next week, so I'm having to retake photos of my recent cards and use our PC.  Note to self..... regularly back up my laptop! 😉

I made this card this week after seeing an online demo for the fold in a craft Facebook group I belong to.  I'm sure the fold has a name,  but I don't know what it is.  A 'Top Diamond Fold' perhaps? 😊  The card demonstrated was a bit larger than this one, so I adjusted all the measurements so it would fit into a 5" x 7" envelope.

It's a pretty easy fold to do, just four score lines in a rectangular piece of card.  The patterned paper is from a Trimcraft 'Sail Away' paper pad.  The image is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Sailing Home' set, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Nocturne' and coloured with Promakers.  I used my scoreboard to score lines around the image it from it and added some tiny red pearls.

This photo shows the card open, revealing the sentiment inside.  The stamp came from the same SU set as the image.

Stained Glass Threefer

I left it too late to join in the Twofer Challenge last month, so this month I'm making sure I get my cards made in time.  A bit of a change this month as there is no prompt word..... the theme is 'Your Choice!'  Two cards with different designs, for two different occasions, using the same die, stamp or stencil.

For my Twofer Challenge cards I used a Sue Wilson 'Butterfly' die from the Stained Glass collection.  I chose to use the prompt word(s) ‘Stained Glass’.

I am joining in the Twofer Challenge #36 with this pair of cards.

For my first card, I made the stained glass frame with black card, trimmed it to size and stuck it onto a double-sided adhesive sheet.  I used snippets in a variety of colours and inlaid the pieces.... it was just like doing a jigsaw, only easier.  The spaces were already sticky because of the adhesive sheet, so this was so much less messy and quicker to do than using glue.  The filled frame was attached to the card blank and a sentiment added.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:
As You Like It Challenge ~ Favourite way to cut your image (& why) - Definitely die cutting, as it's quicker than fussy cutting and so much neater than I could do with scissors. lol

My second card is an Upright Z Fold card (or it may have another name 😉).  I die cut the frame in a snippet of white card, sprayed the back with adhesive glue, backed it with green card and layered on an orange mat.  I inlaid parts of the frame with orange.  The front panel was embossed with a Cuttlebug 'Swiss Dots' embossing folder.  The card folds flat for posting.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

I was ready to post my Twofer photo with this card, but when I looked at the card this morning, I decided the back panel needed some extra colour and I much prefer the result.

..... and finally a Threefer, a similar design to the first one, but just in black and white with no inlaid pieces.  Using the white frame over black gives a silhouette effect of the design.  I sprayed the back of the frame with spray glue before layering over the black card, so it was a really quick and easy card to make.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

No full sheets of coloured/black card were harmed in the making of any of the three cards, but my pile of snippets doesn't seem to have got any smaller!

Pop Out Card

A card with a 'new to me' fold, which I think is called a Pop Out Card.  It's quite an easy fold to make, just three score lines and two cuts.  The card has an extra slightly smaller card blank incorporated in the fold and the card folds flat for posting.

All the patterned paper is from a Dovecraft 'Baby Steps' paper pad.  The sentiments are stamps from the SU 'Beauty Abounds' set, stamped with Versafine 'Morning Mist'.   I added some faux stitching around the edge of the punched sentiment with a grey fineliner pen.    The little grey stitched die cut heart is a die from a Creative Expressions set.

Yellow and Black

A card today which I made for a friend's birthday.

The Creative Expressions 'Honey Bee Circle' die is a pre-loved set of dies I bought recently and used for the first time.  I die cut the decorative circle in black and layered it on a yellow circle.  The bee is a die in the set and with a little creative snipping I made the bee with different colours, before raising up on foam pads.  The sentiment is a stamp from a SU 'Painted Glass' set of stamps.  I finished off my card with a black gem in each corner.

Gnome Couple

The March Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today with the theme 'Feminine'.  We are sponsored this month by SheepSki Designs.

The card base was die cut with a Presscut 'Centre Stepper Card' die.  SheepSki Designs kindly gave the DT digi stamps to work with and I chose Giant Daisies - image no 207.   I coloured the image with Promarkers.  The flowers were made with a punch and I added tiny pearls to the centres.  I didn't have any green pearls, so I coloured so white ones with a green Promarker.  I added a strip of yellow and white ribbon across the front and put a green brad at each end.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge ends on 28th March, so plenty of time to join in the challenge with your feminine cards.  Please pop over to the Crafty Calendar blog to see all the beautiful cards the DT have made for inspiration.

Lavinia Scene

Another fancy fold card today.  I really like how this card turned out and I think this may well be one I don't give away.

I used a Lavina 'Laurel' stencil with Distress ink for the background of all the panels.  The images are all Lavinia stamps, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Nocturne' and I watercoloured the little house and the fairy's lantern with Distress Inks.  'Rue' the large fairy, 'Fairy Foragers', the small fairies and the 'Fairy Hive' were all inked up for the first time, so I'll be sharing my card over in the NBUS challenge.

Football Girl

A feminine football card today, because girls like football too!

I used a wood mounted Francoise Read, 'Footy Girl' stamp, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Nocturne' and coloured with Promarkers.  The background is embossed with a  Crafter's Companion football embossing folder.

I added a strip of football ribbon, a Stampin' Up sentiment and a football peeloff.

Inside Out Card

The Butterfly Challenge ends in a few hours.  I thought I had another week...... is anyone else losing track of the days and weeks at the moment?  The challenge is 'I for Inside Out Card'.  I've never seen this fold before, but I really wanted to try it.  I've included all the other elements for the challenge too - Ivory/Iceberg (very light blue)/Inch Worm (pale green) /Inking + Butterfly.

This is the front of the card, with the instructions of what to do.   The patterned paper included all three colours of the challenge and I used plain card in these three colours too.  The butterfly is a stamp from Stampin' Up 'Butterfly Gala', coloured with Promarkers (the Inking part of the challenge).  I added a few pale green pearls to the front.

When the card is turned inside out, the inside becomes the outside.  The 'Thank You So Much' is an Impression Obsession die cut, cut three times and stuck together to make sure it stood up.  The sentiment is another Stampin' Up stamp.  The card stands up Inside Out.

This little video shows how the card works.  You might have to click on Play twice.

Anyone for a sweet?.....

A bright and cheerful card today.  A friend told me that she calls it a Bench Fold, although it may have a different name.  It's really easy to do, just two rectangles scored and folded and stuck together.

Edited to add the measurements I used for my card:
Long piece - 4 1/2" wide x  length of a A4 sheet of card (UK size, just under 12" long) Score at 1/2", 2", 4 1/2", 6".
Short piece - 4" x 6".  Score at 1/2", 2".  (Width can be altered to fit the image.)

The image and sentiment are digi stamps from Beccy's Place 'Sweet as Candy' set.  I decided to use the outline image and I coloured it with Promarkers.  I used Memory Box 'Stitched Square Layers' dies for matting and layering.  I bought the ribbon ages ago and it was perfect to go with this image.  The patterned paper is from a freebie paper pads which came with a magazine.
