Cyan and Checkered

The Butterfly Challenge this fortnight is 'Butterflies + C is for Checkered and/or Cyan'.  I was a bit stumped for ideas for the 'checkered' part, as I couldn't find any suitable papers, so I decided to make my own checkered pattern.

First I die cut a SB 'Square Swatch' shape with white linen card.  Then I wound round cyan coloured crochet cotton to make the pattern.  The MB 'Pippi Butterfly' die cut is attached just by the body onto a die cut circle and the circle is raised up on foam tape.  The cyan background was embossed with a SB 'Dainty Dots' embossing folder.  Four pearls finished off my card. I'm hoping this is CAS enough for the CAS Challenges.

I am joining in the following challenges:

  1. What a clever idea to use the thread for the pattern Liz, and I love that pretty butterfly and the Dainty Dots EF in the background. x

  4. Stunning! Very CAS and yet such a lot of lovely features to enjoy. The thread-wrapped square makes a beautiful check pattern. It's set me thinking of those nail-and-thread pictures we all used to make in the 1970s. I wonder if they are due for a revival?

  8. Now this really is thinking outside of the box! I love your idea. I can remember doing designs like this with cardboard circles as a child. We had endless fun with scraps of knitting wool. Love the CAS effect. Thank you for fluttering by my challenge . Hugs Mrs A.
