A Snowflake is a Winter's Butterfly

The Butterfly Challenge this fortnight is 'Butterflies + Q is for Quotes and/or Quick Silver'.  I thought that this quote was perfect for the challenge, particularly at this time of year.

I covered a card blank with pearlised silver paper. The quote is computer generated and printed  on white card.   I positioned the quote in a Sheila Douglass 'Frosty Ice' embossing folder so it appeared in the plain part of the folder, before running it through my Big Shot.  The butterfly was die cut in white and silver using Poppystamps 'Elsa Butterfly' and 'Lyndon Butterfly' dies.  The butterfly is attached just in the middle and foam pads make the wings stand up.   Three clear gems were used for the body to add a bit of sparkle.  I finished off my card by adding some MB 'Twilight Snowflakes' die cuts in the corners.  Snippets of white and silver were used for the butterfly and snowflakes, so I'll be off to share my card in the Playground.

I am joining in the following challenges:

    2. I believe Di was thinking of using the same quote too! It's hardly surprising though, as it is perfect for the challenge and for the time of year, and it's fascinating to see how differently the same quote can be used. Your card is wonderful, Liz, the white on white background is so elegant

  5. Even funnier Liz - Janr and I had been emailing about the quote when she used it and it WAS going to be used for my Sunday Snippets card and Mrs A's challenge at the same time and I had a very similar design to your beautiful card in mind! Yours knocks spots off anything I could make though. Wonderful use of that Sheena Douglass folder as well, such a clever idea to add the snowflakes. Sigh back to the drawing board I suspect.

Spotted you in QCME - missed it at first - I knew that card was special!

    Hugs

    Di xx

    1. There seems to be a lot of telepathy going on this week! Jenny made a comment on yesterday's post that she had the same idea for a card, using the same embossing folder I had used, which she won over in the Playground. xx
