One Layer

The Less is More Challenge this fortnight is a One Layer card with the theme 'Cute'.  I thought the closing date was yesterday, so rushed to get it finished, but then discovered the challenge was only half way through!  I'm totally losing the plot this week!  So rather than making two posts in one day, I'm posting it today.

I used two old wood mounted stamps, Fun Stamps 'Sleeping Dragon'  and Hobby Arts 'Magical Birthday.  I often used this dragon stamp to make birthday cards for the Reception children I used to teach.  I still can't bring myself to take stamps off a wooden block,  so I couldn't use my Stamp Platform.  As this was a One Layer card, I just had to stamp the image and sentiment and cross my fingers that they were straight! LOL!  Fortunately it worked first time.  I stamped the image with Memento 'Tuxedo Black' and coloured it with Promarkers.  The sentiment was stamped with Versafine 'Onyx Black'.

I am joining in the following challenges:
Less is More Challenge Challenge #363 ~ OLC Cute
Moving Along with the Times Challenge #63 ~ CAS
CAS on Friday Challenge #125 ~ Color me pretty - Use markers or pencils on your card
Allsorts Challenge Week 452 ~ Old Favourites

  10. I love that dragon and the sentiment, what a lovely card!

I can't bring myself to take stamps off the blocks either - I do still love the feel of stamping with wood, but I have a clear plastic stamp positioner which makes it easier to get things in the right place. It's not accurate enough to stamp multiple times though so doesn't have the advantage of a platform that if you miss a bit you get a second chance!

  24. Hi Liz! All challenges last 2 weeks at Less Is More nowadays, we changed into a fortnightly rota when the year changed! A bit more LIM crafting time for everyone! :) Great job stamping your image so perfectly without using a stamping tool (I've taken some of my stamps away from their wooden blocks and it works fine, after using them with the platform I return them to the blocks for "storage", they stick there well enough for storing them and can then be removed again when needed) and your coloring looks fab! Thanks for joining us at Less Is More!

  28. Hi Liz,
what a fantastic card and such wonderful stamping.
Love that image and the sentiment.
    Beautiful colouring also.
I know what you mean about taking the woodem blocks off stamps I shudder to think of the mess I would make of it.
The stamp platforms are good, but there are certain things I fine easier to hand stamp such as embosssing, and backgrounds esprecially if it's a lerger card.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  37. This dragon is the cutest, Liz! Love that sentiment too! I always hold my breath when I stamp with a wood mount. Often my one layer cards end up being layered!

  38. Adorable card Liz! Great colouring of that fun dragon image. Remember when wooden stamps were the BEST. :) I have been slowly taking some of my stamps of the wooden blocks. I think that after having the Misti for so long, my chances of stamping something straight without it are pretty slim. :) xx

You've coloured it beautifully and the font on the sentiment really suits that design. Sorry we confused you with our challenges changing to every fortnight.
