I'm home after a wonderful holiday in the Norwegian fjords. I'll share a couple of photos at the bottom of this post.
A birthday card today for a friend who has well over 60 varieties of snowdrops. Who would have thought that there are so many different ones!
A birthday card today for a friend who has well over 60 varieties of snowdrops. Who would have thought that there are so many different ones!
I used a Altenew cross stitch die and found a snowdrop pattern online, which I altered slightly. I used crochet cotton for cross stitching and edged the snowdrop petals with silver thread to add a little sparkle. I made the navy blue frame with Sue Wilson 'Double Pierced Rectangle' dies. The sentiment is a from the Stampin' Up 'Vertical Greetings' set of stamps, stamped with Versafine 'Majestic Blue'.

What a lovely vacation. Your pictures are absolutely beautiful. You'll have to explain the trolls. Is that a local thing?
ReplyDeleteLovely card, too. [Bunny]
"A troll is a class of being in Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore. In Old Norse sources, beings described as trolls dwell in isolated rocks, mountains, or caves, live together in small family units, and are rarely helpful to human beings." Have you read the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff? There is a troll in the story who lives under the bridge. xx
DeleteWow, beautiful cross-stitching. I had no idea there were 60 types of snowdrops! Super card, she'll love it! Your trip looks amazing - stunning photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful card for your friend. She is going to be thrilled with it. Your cross stitch is so beautiful. These are breath taking photos. That looks like a fantastic trip. I'm so happy your shared them.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the info on Snowdrops Liz, I had no idea that there are so many varieties. Your card is absolutely beautiful and I can only begin to imagine how much work has gone into it. Years ago when I still had my Mum, I made her a tiny cross stitched card and it took me absolutely ages to finish it. It was a great relief to me when she left it out on display. I might have been devastated if it had ended up in a drawer! Your photos are stunning too. Norway looks to be such a beautiful place x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card design. Thanks for sharing your vacation too.
