I have been using the same photo editing software for nearly 20 years. After a recent computer update, it would appear that my editing software will no longer work! My computer has a very basic photo editing software installed and I've no idea if I can add my watermark, but I've used it to crop these photos so I can add them to my blog. So now I'm on the lookout for a replacement photo editing software that's easy to use and will do everything I could do on my old software. I'm wondering if Paintshop Pro would be a suitable replacement, but any advice would be appreciated.
Edited to add: Thank you for all the advice. I've ordered Photoshop Elements 2020. Wish me luck working out how to use it!
Edited again to add: My new software in now installed on my laptop. I've managed to add my watermark to the photos. Whoo hoo! Just need to find out what else I can do with my new software. 😊

One last Christmas card, although I miscalculated how many I've already made this year, so I have a little pile of cards ready for Christmas 2020!
I saw the video for making a Double Tower card HERE and couldn't wait to try out this 'new to me' fold. It's surprisingly easy to make. In the video the folded card measured 7" x 5". I wanted to make a smaller version, so changed the base card to 8" x 6" so the folded card measures 6" x 4". The image is from the Stampin' Up 'Snowman Season' set of stamps and I covered the snowman with clear glitter pen and a touch of orange for the nose. The sentiment is from the SU 'Christmas Gleaming' stamps and I used Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' dies for matting and layering. The papers are also from SU.
This photo show the card from a different angle.

Liz, the same thing happened to me. A computer update and wham...........I lost "I Photos" my photo editing to never be able to get it back. Oh, I know how upset you must be. I am getting the hang of this new to me called "Photos". It's probably old but it's new to me. It comes with the Mac computer. The two that were suggested to me was Photo Shop and Lightroom. My understanding is that you have to pay for them. I know you can get a 30 day free trial on them. I'm sticking with what the Mac gives us and am trying to learn it as I go. Good luck. I feel your frustration.
ReplyDeleteLove your card. I've never seen this fold. It's great. [Bunny]
WOW Liz that fold is fabulous ...I have never tried it and you have inspired me to give it a go. I use a freeware called Fast stone image viewer...it is easy to learn and cool for basic work like brightening photos , resizing and watermarking.
ReplyDeleteCheers

Fabulous card Liz, I have actually used this fold and it's great...
ReplyDeleteI use paintshop Pro, photoshop and a few other programmes. I was self taught with all of these and still use paint shop now after 8yrs, the latest version... Go for it..it's a great programme.
What a sweet card and a fab fold - I must give that a try.
ReplyDeleteSorry I can't help with the editing software, I just use the one built into Windows which is fine for cropping and adjusting light end colour, but I don't think it allows for adding watermarks.
What a beautiful shaped card again! Looks so special!
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your photoprogram. I use Photoshop, but that is because I want to be ablke to work in RAW.... Hugs, Gerrina
Apologies for my lack of commenting recently - sometimes other things get in the way! This is yet another new fold I've not seen before and you've made a great card, love the snowman! I've used Paint shop Pro for many years and through many versions. Recently had to upgrade yet again because my one wouldn't work with Windows 10. I have dabbled with one or two of the free ones but couldn't get on with them - better the devil you know I say. PSP is quite a high end product but can also be easily used at a basic level - has onscreen tutorials and help topics. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very unusual card shape but I bet you could do all sorts with it. So sorry to hear about you losing a program following an update. I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me and especially with Photoshop... so I know how frustrating it is! I just stick with basic stuff these days, sorry - can't help you with that - but I'm sure lots of others will. Thank you for joining Try it on Tuesday's Christmas is Coming challenge.

Love the new fold Liz suits the fun snowman so well Have you looked to see if an update is available for your software
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is, Meg. The latest version is over 10 years old. xx
DeleteLove this design Liz and will check it out later today
ReplyDeletePCs, software etc etc and I don't get on as you will know but I do use Coral Snapfire Plus for my photos, it's easy to use and that suits me down to the ground

I'm still using Photoshop elements 2 with Windows 10 but I've also installed IrfanView (free software) to view photos / pictures. Must admit I'm not a fan of Windows 10 and have stopped it from auto updating.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card and a really great fold xx
A friend has also recommended Photoshop Elements, so I think that may be the one I go for. I don't like Windows 10 either. Windows 7 was much easier to navigate. xx
DeleteFabulous and unusual shape/folding, your card has surely a Wow factor!!
ReplyDeleteI use an old version of PhotoImpact, it works on Windows 10.
PhotoImpact worked on my laptop with Windows 10 until Saturday. After updates overnight on Saturday night, it stopped working. xx
DeleteI am unable to help with photo software but I do love the card. It is beautiful and so unique. I'm sure some of these ladies will know what there is to help you.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what software program you should use. I had the same dilemma a few years ago and now when I edit my things I end up using several places. I do add a signature with Paint though. I never knew how to add a watermark. And that card you made is absolutely awesome. What a great style and the papers you used are so darling.
ReplyDeleteWow very original card I love it and that snowman is super cute. Thanks for joining us at the Try it on Tuesday's challenge. Hugs, María.
ReplyDeleteFabulous Liz! What an amazing fold and I love the cute snowman> Good luck with your new editing program!

A fantastic 3D card, Liz!!! I used Picasso for years and still do for basic editing, but I also use PicMonkey for editing, making collages, and adding my watermark. It's free for basic, but I pay the small monthly fee. Good luck!! Happy Holiday Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDelete...me again, just popped back to thank you for sharing this fabulous card at Sweet Stampin'!

A fabulous new (to me) fold Liz, love the snowman, makes it such a happy card. A good start for 2020? good for you, think I'll do the same.
ReplyDeleteI have used Photoshop for years (self taught). I think a lot of crafters use Photoshop Elements, my SiL has just updated to Photoshop paid monthly, she says it gives her peace of mind to any updates on her 'puter. Good Luck with your hunt.

ReplyDeleteThanks Annie. I've worked out how to crop, lighten the photo and add my watermark. If I get stuck with anything else, I may give you a shout for some advice. xx
DeleteWhat a unique & fun card, Liz--love it! I don't even use the program I bought--just a couple free ones. Maybe next year I'll try again to see if it would be better.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shape. Beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining at Stamping Sensations this month.
A lovely card with a very nice shape. Beautiful! Thanks for joining our challenge at Addicted to Stamps and at Stamping Sensations. Marlies
ReplyDeleteYou and I are in the same boat. I had to buy a new pc with win10 and I find it confusing in how files are named and exported instead of saved. I had PSE installed on my old pc when I bought it, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to buy the newer version for my new pc. I can't seem to figure out how to add watermarks, change contrast or color levels with the free software available. Good luck with PSE, I knew how to use my older version, hopefully I can figure out how to use the newer version once I buy it. For now I'm taking a blogging break and gathering my wits :)
ReplyDeleteGreat make! Thanks for sharing with us at Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge. Good luck! And Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWow... this looks awesome! love the fold and that cute snowman! I'll have to give it a try!
