This was my second attempt at making this card. On my first card I added tiny black Nuvo Drops to the centre of the flowers. I stamped the sentiment, layered it on black and as I went to attach it to the middle of the card, I had a Senior Moment and forgot the Nuvo Drops would still be wet. My hand smudged the black drops over the the top part of the card and the embossed panel! 😞 Why I didn't add the drops at the very end as I usually do, I've no idea.

So I started again and decided to change one of the flower stamps this time. The flowers are stamps from the Stampin' Up 'Thoughtful Blooms' set and stamped with a red metallic ink pad, cut out with a punch and raised up on foam pads. This time I added tiny black pearls to the centre of the flowers, so no chance of smudging them! LOL! The sentiment is from the SU 'Positive Thoughts'. The panel is a strip of Anna Marie Design striped black and white patterned paper with a piece of red card, embossed with a Tattered Lace embossing folder layered on top.
I am joining in the following challenges:
Rather than totally waste the first card, I rescued the only bit worth saving, cut it into a long strip and layered it on a black mat and attached to a card blank. A sentiment finished off my CAS card.
Beautiful cards Liz both are very classy in their own....xx
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous summery cards Liz. It's a shame that it cold and wet here today and not more summery feeling.

It's so annoying when something like that happens, love the card you made from the rescued piece, and your remake of the original one
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful liz cards with lovely use of flowers

Both cards are lovely Liz, so pretty- great way to use the salvaged strip from the smudged card- I love that CAS design.

This is so pretty and you can got 2 cards out of it! I hate when I make a mistake like that, no matter how long you've been stamping, it always happens (I've been stamping for 30 years!) Thanks for sharing it with us at The Crafter's Cafe. Sherri DT
ReplyDeleteLovely cards Liz.....great save too! x
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely cards Liz..and nice to see you've managed to salvage part of your ruin card...see us crafters don't waste anything

ReplyDeleteI love the positive sentiment on your card and both are so pretty. It's great that you could save part of the first one and reuse it for a twofer.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you've rescued a strip from your disaster to make another card. Waste not, want not 😉. Both cards are lovely, good colour choices too.
ReplyDeleteLove both cards Liz, it's awful when the senior moments hit you at such inconvenient times lol

Isn't it great that there are no mistakes in crafting only happy accidents? I love both projects. The "recovery" projects does give one the impression of a notepad, very nice design decision! Thanks for sharing two fabulous projects with us at A Place To Start!

I'm sorry you smudged the black drops Liz, how frustrating but I think we all have these sorts of moments occasionally, annoying at the time though. Both cards are very pretty with those sweet punched flowers and the red embossed central panel with the paper behind giving that love edge to it is just perfect. The note card with a strip saved from the other using these prettty flowers with that lovely red centre to the white ones, looks great too, and a great idea to substitute the black pearls for the drop..better safe than sorry..haha. x
ReplyDeleteAww Liz, you're not alone... I often do the very same. Despite having to start again your cards are so pretty and the Nuvo drops look fab. I'm totally drawn to your second card, I love the white space and simplicity of the design... makes my CAS heart smile x
ReplyDeleteBoth great cards, pretty stamped flowers. Thanks for joining us at A Place to Start this month for our"Flowers" challenge
ReplyDeleteI think we've all been in your shoes and smeared something. It's very cute and what a nice save on the one you smeared. [Bunny]
ReplyDeleteBoth are so beautiful, love your recovered card and your original now with pearls LOL. Great work Liz.
ReplyDeleteTake care

As soon as I started reading I knew it wasn't going to end well. lol Well it did end well though in the long run! I can't tell you how many times I've done that myself. Yep, just better to wait until the end. But you second attempt looks amazing and no smears with the pearls. lol I love how sweet this card is with those pretty little flowers! I do love how you save a bit of the first card, it makes an amazing CAS card, so simple but so elegant! Well done Liz! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty cards Liz! Oh dear, I can totally relate to the Nuvo drops incident. I've done it many times and I've even inadvertently squeezed the nozzle of one bottle and ruined a project! Shabneez x
ReplyDeleteGreat save with the second card Liz and you are not alone with smudging a wet 'dot'!! x. A really pretty card with a wonderful design, pretty flowers and a great sentiment x.
