Honeycomb

A pair of cards today, as they sort of go together.

I was inspired by a video HERE for these cards.  I started by die cutting three hexagons of different sizes in a piece of white card, slightly smaller than the card blank.  (I put the hexagons to one side for the second card.)  As I was planning to have a bee theme, I then embossed the white card with a honeycomb embossing folder.  On the card blank, I marked where the apertures would be and stamped some foliage using a green metallic ink pad. The embossed card was then layered over the top.  The flowers were made with punches and the bee was a die which came as the cover gift with a magazine some time ago.  For my second card I embossed a piece of honey coloured card with the same embossing folder.  I stamped little bees on the leftover hexagons from the first card, added a little colour with Promarkers and layered them on the embossed background.  The flowers on this card were also punched.  No full sheets of card were harmed making these cards, so I will be sharing my cards over in Pixie's Snippets Playground.

I am joining in the following challenges:

  3. Two really delightful cards for different occasions, and with such a pretty dry embossed honeycomb background on both, and love the design of the first with the foliage filled apertures and the die cut bee, and the sweet little stamped bees on the second, which are my favourites, and the pink and blue punched daisies work beautifully on both cards.

  13. Oops, at first look I thought I'd missed Twofer this month! I love both of these. The foliage peeking though is so pretty and a perfect place for the bee to land. A great way to recycle the hexagons for your second card and I like the yellow background.
