Chicken Farmer

It's my great niece's 11th birthday today and this is the card I made for her.  She has several chicken in her garden which she looks after and sells the eggs to her neighbours.  She recently said she'd love to be a chicken farmer when she grows up!

This image seemed perfect for her card.  It's a pre-coloured digi stamp from Beccy's Place 'Spring Chickens' set.  I used SU gingham paper for the back of the card and added a die cut Spellbinders feather die cut.  The embossing was done with a Crafts-Too 'Feathers' e/f.  Three Card Candi finished off my card.

  2. This card is awesome Liz, I love it!! The colours are so vibrant and happy, and the gingham paper is a wonderful choice for a "down-home" style card. The embossed panels are a wonderful idea and the feather looks fabulous... just like it floated down from a chicken's tail. I'm sure your great niece will love this. Well done!
    Cheers,
    Beccy

  5. What a fun Chicken and perfect for our 'Animals' theme at Allsorts challenge, thanks so much for joining in. Also sounds perfect for your niece.

It's relaxing keeping hens but a questionable career route the last few years with avian flu, ours have only just been allowed out again after yet another prolonged quarantine, so miserable hens and low egg production.

  15. How cute this is for an 11 year old. This is the first time I've heard of someone wanting to be a chicken farmer but it's something we need. I bet she is adorable. The addition of the feather is so cute. I'm catching up on your recent cards and they are great. I love that ladybug!

  17. Hi Liz,
a beautiful card for your niece I love the wonderful design and the gingham paper used.
The chicken image is very lovely and it fits the bill perfectly.
My late husband's sister used to be a chicken farmer out in NZ and she used to sell her eggs all over different countries.
One night they had a really bad storm and the chickens all huddled together and died either by fright or suffocation.
She was devastated sadly she has passed now too.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
