A friend of mine makes beautiful crocheted things, so I made her a CAS card with this theme for her birthday.
I bought a bundle of dies in a sale recently and this Crafter's Companion 'Needles and Yarn' set was part of the bundle. The set also includes knitting needle dies. I think the ball of wool die is suppose to actually cut out thin strips in the image, but I couldn't get it to cut right through, so I decided to leave it intact with just a pattern showing. I used a piece of matching crochet cotton and attached it to the die cut crochet hook. The ball of wool and crochet hook were layered on a white rectangle, die cut with a Sizzix 'Stitched Rectangle'. Three blue pearls finished off my card. All the card, except for the base card was snippets, so I'll be sharing my card over in the Playground.
I am joining in the following challenges:

This is great for your friend who enjoys crocheting, and who will really appreciate this Liz, and I love the blue wool, such a pretty colour, and the addition of the piece of thread, in a well matched colour attached to the hook, is a brilliant idea, and the mat has such a beautiful edge too, and also finished with those lovely pearls...a super CAS card! x
ReplyDeleteOH! What a wonderful card, that will be received with joy, I'm sure Liz.
ReplyDeleteI like it with the pattern showing and it looks exactly like a ball of yarn! Cute, cute card and know she'll love it.
ReplyDeleteLynn
What a wonderful personalized birthday card, I love the combination of the die-cut wool ball and actual thread! I think your motif turned out just fine, and it looks even better with just the die pattern and without white strips inbetween - at least, that's how a ball of wool looks like when my sister is knitting. Such a thoughtful gift for a friend and I'm sure she'll be delighted once she sees it. Thanks for joining the Alphabet challenge.

This is so cool, Liz! How clever people are to make dies like this and you're very clever to showcase them perfectly and specially for your friend! She will love it! Thank you for inspiring everyone at NBUS! Thank you, too, for the beautiful Christmas card! Happy Holiday Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteThis is the best card! I love that crochet needle and adding the cotton string made it so authentic. Your friend will cherish this wonderful, personalized card just for her.
ReplyDeleteGreat personalized card -- she'll love it, and it's right on point! TFS at NBUS
ReplyDeleteOh Liz - so spot on for your friend! What a great card this is! It's fine as it is but I recently used a die set and afterwards wondered if I should have used a rubber embossing mat and run the die/cut through again with the mat on top of the card and die. To be honest, I was too far down the line but perhaps I'd have gotten more definition (just remembered it was the Santa money holder belt dies). But, life really IS too short to peel a grape!!
