Dinosaur

Our daughter has a family of three lodging with her, including a delightful six year old who had his birthday a couple of days ago.  He is dinosaur mad, so it was easy to think of a theme for his card.

It took me a while to find this dinosaur stamp as the last time I used is was HERE for my great nephew's birthday.... in 2013!  There is no brand name on the packet, but I remember buying it at a craft fair in a bargain bucket at the NEC.  I stamped the image on a snippet of white card using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' and coloured it with Promarkers, grounding the dinosaur with pale grey.  The patterned paper was snippets too, from a paper pad from The Range.  I used a die from The Works for the number six, using another snippet of white card.

Crafty Calendar Challenge ~ Add Layers

The Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today with the theme 'Add Layers'.  For my DT card I've made a Tri Panel Z Fold card.

The patterned paper is from The Range.  I used a Memory Box 'Paper Cut Tulips Circle' die for the focal point.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge ends on the 28th September.  Please hop over to the challenge blog to see the beautiful creations the DT have made for inspiration.

Z Fold Card

It's the 1st September tomorrow and I need to make 14 cards for birthdays and anniversaries this month!  I think September is the busiest month for sending cards for me..... apart from Christmas.  I've already made six cards, so thought I'd better crack on with the rest.  I saw that the Diva Cut Divas Challenge ends in a few hours, with the theme of 'Make a Z Fold Card', so that was the inspiration for my masculine card.

The patterned paper was from an old Dovecraft paper pad.  I used an unbranded Happy Birthday die I bought from eBay quite a few years ago and layered it on a red mat, die cut with a Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' die.  I used a punch for the small stars.

To finish off my card I added a plain panel for the message.

Allsorts Challenge ~ Birthday

A new Allsorts Challenge begins today and Donna has chosen the theme 'Birthdays', so a nice easy theme, although there is always the Anything Goes option.  I've  made a Hexagonal Floating Card after watching Paul Ford's video HERE.

The patterned papers are from The Range.  I die cut a Sue Wilson 'Majestic Monarch' butterfly.  I attached the butterfly to the clear acetate panel down the front of the card.  This is the element which makes the butterfly appear to be floating.

There are two stamp sets each for two lucky randomly drawn winners.

Twofer

Two cards to share today.   I'm on a mission to finish off unfinished cards and to reduce my ribbon mountain.

This card was in my unfinished pile, with just the leaf patterned paper (from the The Range) and the purple mat attached to the card blank.  I intended using it for another card, but changed my mind and made a totally different card.  To complete this card, I used a floral stamp from the Julie Hickey 'Friendship Blooms' set and coloured the flower with Promarkers.  I stamped the flower head again, coloured it with the same Promarker and fussy cut it.  I layered the fussy cut flower head on top of the original flower, using glue in the middle and foam pads on the petals to raise them up.  A pink enamel dot was added to the centre.  The sentiment was a stamp from the 'Friendship Blooms' set.

My second card is a Christmas card as the August Rudolph Days Challenge ends in a couple of days.

I used an Inkylicious stamp 'Christmas Deer (Happy)', stamped with Versafine Clair 'Nocturne'.  It was a recent charity shop buy, which I used today for the first time.  I don't think it had previously been used and as it's dated 2012 on the packet, it was about time it was inked up.    I used two dies from the Sue Wilson 'Double Pierced Circles' set, chopping off the bottom of the layered image. The background was embossed with a Sue Wilson 'Frosted Stripes' embossing folder.  I added a strip of ribbon, layered on red panel.  To finish off my card, I added three clear gems to the largest snowflakes in the image to add some sparkle.

Travel Tag

The Tag-along (and ATCs) August Challenge ends tomorrow, so I've made a tag to enter before the challenge closes.  The theme this Month is 'Travel'.

The tag shape was made with a Stampin' Up tag punch and I corner rounded the bottom corners .  I made a mask for the stencilling using dies from a new Spellbinders 'Color Block Cloudscape' set and used an Adirondack 'Sail Boat Blue' ink pad for the stencilling.  I used the tag punch again with a snippets of white card to add a top to the tag, colouring it first with the ink I'd used on the cloud stencilling.  The balloon is a Memory Box 'Hot Air Balloon' die cut, it's a small version of the one I used HERE.  To finish of my card I used white Ric Rac instead of ribbon or twine, as it seemed to match the shape of the clouds.

Card Swap

A Zig Zag card made for a card swap.

It's easer to make than it looks, just a few score lines and two cut lines. The patterned paper is from The Range.  The flowers on the centre panel were made with punches and I added a few lines with a fineliner pen to make them look like the flowers in the floral paper.  The sentiment was made with dies Stamp Market 'Hello Die'.

The card folds flat for posting.

Fishing

A masculine card today for my niece's husband.

The image and sentiment is a Little Claire's 'Silhouette Boat' stamp, stamped with Versafine Claire 'Nocturne'.  The text panel is patterned paper from Anna Marie Designs.  The matted image is attached with foam pads to add some dimension. I added a few Card Candi to finish off my card.  Everything, apart from the card base and Card Candi, was snippets so I'll be sharing my card over in The Playground.  It took me a while to get enough matching red snippets from my snippets drawer, there seems to be so many shades of red!

Allsorts Challenge ~ I Spy something beginning with 'B'

A new Allsorts Challenge begins today and Ellie has chosen the theme 'I Spy something beginning with B'.  As always there is always the option of Anything Goes.  I've made a masculine card for my brother with B for Balloon, Basket and Blue.

For the background I used a new die from the Craft Addiction 'Slatted Square Collection' set.  I die cut it using a navy blue and backed with square of pale blue.  The balloon is a Memory Box 'Beautiful Balloon' die I won a little while ago in the Snippets Playground and it had it's first outing for this card.  I attached the balloon with foam pads.  The clouds are Memory Box 'Puffy Clouds' die cuts and I attached two with foam pads.  The sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Best Year' set, stamped with SU 'Night of Navy'.

There are prizes of coordinating stamps and dies for the two lucky winners.

Pops of Red

A Thank You card I can post on my blog now that I know it's been received. I used a stamp I won recently in the Stamping Sensations Challenge.

The stamp is an AALL & Create '#835 - Rose Background' which I used for the first time. I used Versafine Clair 'Nocture' for stamping and coloured the roses in the circles with a red Polychromos colouring pencil.  The sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Humming Along' set.  I wound some red twine around the card and attached the sentiment with foam pads to add some dimension.

CAS Retirement Card

I made this CAS card for a good friend who retired recently from working as a Teaching Assistant for over 20 years.  We worked together for many years when I was a teacher in Sunflower Class.  I thought it was appropriate to include sunflowers on her card.

I used a new Craft Addictions 'Slatted Hexagons' die with white card and backed it with green, the same card as the mat.  The flowers were made with punches and snippets of yellow, brown and green, so I'll be sharing my card over in The Playground.

Blast From The Past

An old project to share today.  It's been hanging in my craft room since I made it when I was on the DT for Fiskarettes.  Today my hubby came into my craft room and commented on it and said he hadn't noticed it before.  It's been hanging in my craft room since May 2016!  It's right by the door, so very difficult to miss.

The green circles are the months of the year, the red tags are anniversaries, the blue tags are male birthdays and the yellow birthdays are female birthdays.  Each tag has the name and the date.  The tags are joined by split rings and are in chronological order, so new tags can easily be added in the right place.

Thinking of You

I discovered the Color Hues Challenge yesterday, when a blogging friend suggested I linked up yesterday's card HERE as the theme was Pink and Grey.  I checked the guidelines and unfortunately you can only link to four other challenges and I'd already linked to five, so a new card today using pink and grey so I can join in the challenge.

I used a Sizzix 'Botanical Mask' die in white card and backed it with a piece of pink card, before layering it on a grey mat.  The sentiment is a Woodware 'Thinking of you Mini' stamp, stamped with Versafine 'Morning Mist'.

Allsorts Challenge ~ Animals

It's Helen's turn to introduce the new Allsorts Challenge and she has chosen the theme of  'Animals'.  As always there is also the Anything Goes option.  A male friend of ours collects pigs (not real ones!), so I made him this card for his birthday.

I used an MFT 'Cross-Stitch Tag' die and chopped of the top to make it into a rectangle.  I used crochet cotton for the stitching. The background was embossed with Lisa Horton's 'Cubes' embossing folder.  I used a snippet of Anna Marie Designs text paper to make panel across the middle.  The matted stitched image was attached with foam pads to add some dimension.

There are two prizes of Lavina stamps, stencil and scenescapes.

Christmas in July

I'm sneaking in with a last minute card for the Rudolph Days Challenge which closes today.

I haven't had much time to craft for the last couple of weeks as our bathroom is being transformed in to shower room with a walk in shower.  There are piles of building materials everywhere and as for the dust...... it gets everywhere!  Hopefully it will be finished by the end of next week.  I did manage to get into my craft room today and sort out a few things at the back of a cupboard.  I came an envelope with ten dark red card blanks with cream stars.  I've no idea where they came from and I can't remember buying them, so I guess they were given to me a long time ago.  I die cut a Memory Box 'Leaping Reindeer' in cream.  The sentiment is a stamp from the Woodware 'Useful Christmas' set, stamped with Versafine 'Crimson Red' on a snippet of cream card.  I corner rounded the corners and attached the sentiment with foam pads to add some dimension.  So a very quick card today and I think I will make a few more using some of the other card blanks as I'm really behind making my Christmas cards this year.

Birthday Cards

A friend celebrated her big birthday recently and I made her this Flying Seagull card.

The flower is a stamp from the Woodware 'Mini Flowers' set, coloured with Promarkers.  The papers are from The Range.  I used number dies from the Works.  Three enamel dots finished off my card.

A second card today, made for my nephew.  He isn't particularly interested in sport or drinking, so I always find his card difficult to make.  I decided on a CAS underwater theme.
I use a snippet of silver mirror card with a Memory Box 'Oceana Corner' die.  The blue card was also from my blue snippets drawer, so I'll be sharing my card over in the Snippets Playground.

Allsorts Challenge ~ Pretty Flowers

Lynn has chosen the Allsorts theme this week and she would like to see all your creations with 'Pretty Flowers'.  As always, there is the option of Anything Goes.

I only discovered the Crafty Roo website just before they closed down.  This 'Bulb Border' stamp was one of the ones I bought in the closing down sale.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and added three purple sequins.
