I don't know if he felt guilty for spending Friday evening at the rugby, followed by a visit to the pub, but Alan offered to drive me to Exeter yesterday for the Stitching, Sewing and Hobbycraft Show. I actually enjoyed Friday evening at home alone crafting, but who was I to refuse such an offer! He sat outside reading his paper and drinking coffee, so there were no comments of "what do you need that for?" while I was shopping. I found a little die I'd been looking for next to this lovely butterfly die which cuts out lots of little butterflies.....so it sort of fell into my basket too! I decided to use it today to make a card for my second entry on the Butterfly Challenge blog.
To make the different shades of butterflies on the left, I coloured a piece of white card with Pumpkin, Terracotta and Walnut Promarkers and put it behind the die cut. The butterfly on the right was punched with a Tonic punch, which punches out the butterfly wings and leaves them attached to the card. I backed the butterfly with a snippet of orange card and decorated it with pale brown pearls. Everything was then attached with foam pads onto a brown card blank.
I would like to enter my card for the following challenges:
Such a lovely hubby you have, sounds like you had a great shopping spree. The card is so pretty with the cute small butterflies in different shades and the lovely pop out butterfly.

ReplyDeleteGoodness me! Such a lot of butterflies fluttering around. I love how you have created this card and the colour selection is just perfect. Thankyou fluttering by again. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteYour new die is fabulous and that punch is really cool. I like how you did the different colors behind the little butterflies. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteLovely colours ( and I think the die is fab!)
ReplyDeleteLovely card Liz, fabulous butterfly die, and I like the way you varied the colour behind it. What a treat to be taken to the show and then left to shop alone.

Fabulous Liz! Love the Autumn shades and the dies are gorgeous - esp. the panel. Mrs A missed asking you if you kept all the cutouts :)
ReplyDeleteHugs, Di xx
Of course I kept the cutouts Di. Do cardmakers ever throw useful things away? :-)
DeleteLove your new die and the card you made with it. Good for hubby taking you to the show too!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Liz, love these colours, well done too using your new things straight away :) Love the pop up butterfly with the lighter colour underneath, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteI had a quick peek of this at the Playground, but followed your R&white card first. This is gorgeous too. Am loving this tiny butterfly die, and it's a new one to me (I can quite understand that it leaped into your basket. It KNEW you needed it to take home to make this lovely card). Love that these colors are great for Mrs. A's autumn challenge, and that was a colorful idea to back the cutouts with your fall colors. Like the punched & lifted butterfly on the other side too. Terrific card. TFS
ReplyDeleteWow LIz, I am so loving this fabulous butterfly card! I love those tiny butterflies and I love how you colored them in ombre colors. The big butterfly is amazing and I so love how it doesn't cut fully from the card. Just a beautiful card! Hugs, Brenda
