I'm getting back to normal life after our holiday in China. Washing and ironing is all done and packed away. I needed to make several thank you cards for friends would were kind enough to give us Ruby Wedding Anniversary presents. I wanted to make cards with a Chinese theme and this is what I eventually came up with.
The stamped image is heat embossed with Gold Sparkle embossing powder. The dragon looks more sparkly in real life, I guess the light on the scanner doesn't like a bit if sparkle! I originally planned to use a white or cream card base, but thought the dragon looked more striking on black. My drawer of red snippets was overflowing - no idea why I seem to have more red than any other colour, so I was able to use up a little pile of snippets for these cards. The red die cut was attached with foam pads.
I would like to enter my card for the following challenge:
I love this colour combo for oriental cards, and your gold dragon looks great on his red mat. I enlarged the photo and could see the sparkle.

I think this is the perfect image for an Oriental card. I'm sure you saw this image when you were on your trip. You made a beautiful card with it. Love the shine.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to visit China! This is a perfect theme for your thank you cards, and it's most dramatic with the vivid black & red. The gold dragon is very fierce, and I'm sure all your card recipients will appreciate this reminder of your anniversary trip. It's just beautiful. The embossing did show quite well I think. TFS
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful card Liz - the dragon plus the red, black and gold are absolutely perfect for your perfect theme.
