The inspiration for this card came from a close encounter yesterday with the most enormous spider I've ever seen, which I suddenly spotted on the floor of my lounge! It was so big, it looked as if it was a fake one - but it wasn't! As I'm not a lover of spiders, my hubby had the job of removing it to the bottom of the garden.
I started by attaching a black piece of card to a white card blank, adding some extra DST where the aperture was going to be. I then die cut a circle through the front of the card. The spider's web was die cut using silver pearlised card, using dies I bought on eBay, and attached at the back of the aperture. The spider is attached on a foam pad. The ghosts and pumpkins are Impression Obsession dies and the letters were cut with MB Alphabet Soup dies.
This photo shows the card open.
To make sure the web was secure, I made a frame using the circle dies and attached it over the edges of the web, inside of the card.

ReplyDeleteCool card Liz, I hate spiders too...we get our place sprayed every year as the red backs love my garden and pool area...x
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, a super cute card for Halloween, spiders are on the move at the minute down under, spring weather brings them out of hiding... have a wonderful week... Megan
ReplyDeleteAnother great Halloween card Liz, you're on a roll!

Bottom of the garden or on a card - best place for spiders, certainly not running about loose in the house!! Great card.
ReplyDeleteLike you Liz I'm not keen on spiders either, the bottom of the garden is the best place as far as I'm concerned. The papers kind like on this card are fine (so long as they don't move).

UGH! although that spider gave you GREAT inspiration, a fabulous card. Love the spider web and how you have attached it to the card. The ghosts and the pumpkins are a great addition.
ReplyDeleteA blog friend had one in her bedroom and knew it was called a "Wolf" spider, it seemed it bit her too, nothing too bad, BUT!!!!

Another great Halloween card Liz and love the circular aperture with the spider web with the spider of course, and love the pumpkins and fun ghosts too. I have a bug buster which hoovers them up, but even with that the very large ones I leave to hubby...lol.
ReplyDeleteSpooky cute. Love those ghosts. Spiders don't bother me but I can sympathize because there is another bug that will make me run and run over anyone in the way. [Bunny]
