Trees

Welcome to my two new followers. Your little photos don't appear under my list of followers, so I don't know who you are.  Please leave me a comment, so I can follow your blog too. 😊

The theme for the Twofer Challenge this month is 'Trees'.  I thought time would run out before the challenge finishes, but I managed to find some time yesterday to make my cards.  The challenge is to make two cards, with different designs and for different occasions.

I am joining in the Twofer Challenge with this pair of cards.

The tree die I used on both cards is Memory Box 'Tree of Wonder'.  For this CAS sympathy card, I just added a sentiment from the Happy Little Stamper 'Dandelion Wishes' set of stamps.  I die cut the sentiment with a Sue Wilson 'Double Pierced Rectangle' die and layered it on a green rectangle.

I had a slight mishap with my first attempt at making this card.  I used a Martha Stewart flower border punch, attached the border strip to the card blank and added some green Nuvo Crystal drop to the centre of each flower...... then somehow, I knocked a couple of the drops with my hand before they were dry and smudged them across the white card.  Then I said something I won't repeat on here!!  Fortunately, I hadn't attached the tree topper I'd made, so I punched another border, attached it across a new card blank and added the Nuvo drops again......then I put the card out of reach!  When the drop were dry, I attached the layered square with foam tape to add dimension and added a sentiment.

I am also joining in the following challenges with these cards:

  1. Two oh so pretty tree cards Liz and love the two colours you have chosen. How frustrating to smudge the drops. My favourite trick is to put an inky fingerprint on something...lol. x

  6. What a lovely tree this is, so different and fun. Smears and smudges are the bane of our existence as stampers! Two great cards for the twofer.

  7. Two fabulous cards - trees are so useful and that die looks very versatile. I can imagine chopping into that and making use of all the bits for all sorts of things.

    1. Thanks, Gill, I'm your latest follower.

It really is a useful tree die. I've snipped bits off to use as leaves or flourishes on previous project. I had intended to use the tree as flourishes for the Twofer challenge, but time was not on my side! xx

    1. Thanks for the tip, Kitty. It worked for Gill (comment above), but for the other follower it only shows a list of blogs they follow. I guess they've set their privacy setting so their name or blog is not revealed. xx

  19. What a great flourishy tree, Liz! I can see that being used for something romantic, too, like Valentine's Day, anniversary, wedding! Very versatile and I love how you have come up with two different and pretty designs with it! I love the simple matted and stitched panel for the sediment. That font fits the tree perfectly! And your background detailed (and nerve-wracking) border is so pretty behind the tree panel on your birthday card! I had to laugh about your expletive deleted! Cover your ears children, mother is crafting, lol! Funnier still when grandma swears! Thank you so much for joining in Twofer Card Challenge #6! Hugs, Darnell
