For those who read my post HERE, I'm please to report that I helped my daughter's Girl Guides make 53 Christmas cards on Monday evening to take to the residents of the nursing home next week. They all worked really hard to get them finished and even had time to draw some little pictures inside along with the beautifully written messages.
I spent yesterday writing all my Christmas cards and discovered that I had miscounted. I had none left for our local neighbours, so today I made twelve of this design.
I spent yesterday writing all my Christmas cards and discovered that I had miscounted. I had none left for our local neighbours, so today I made twelve of this design.
I used a pre-coloured digi stamp from Beccy's Place, die cut with Memory Box a 'Stitched Square' die. The sentiment is computer generated and I learnt something today. I wanted to add some musical notes to the text and found out, using google, that if you press ALT on the keyboard and type 14 using the numeric keypad, up pops a pair of quavers! It may be that everyone else knows this already, but I thought it was pretty cool! For the background I used a Creative Expression 'Shimmering Stars' embossing folder. So that's all my cards made and written for this year, with a few spares in case we receive one from someone I've forgotten.

Great card with a wonderful embossing folder!
ReplyDeleteI love these singing snowmen, I also have that digi from Beccy. I think I have to try this computer trick to get notes. Thank you for telling, Liz!
Hugs, Liv
Very well done with the Girl Guides card making session, oh to be a GG again. Worst nightmare thinking you have finished and then finding you haven't.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really lovely card with a super EF and a cute fun image.

Love Beccy's images and this one is no exception! Great for batch making as you say. x
ReplyDeleteVery cute CAS, love the image and the embossing!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Liz, 53 cards is an amazing effort... you all must have worked very hard! I'm sure the nursing home residents were thrilled to receive such lovely gifts from the girls. Good on you for helping your daughter out, I'm sure they all appreciated it.
ReplyDeleteYour card today is lovely and has given me some more inspiration. I've also discovered I'm a few cards short this year so I'll be needing something fairly quick and easy to make, and I love this design. The embossed background looks wonderful and the stitched border just helps to finish it off nicely.
Thanks for the tip about the quavers Liz, I didn't know that either!
Cheers,
Beccy
Congrats Liz on the achievement of making 53 cards for your daughter's Girl Guides.
ReplyDeleteDonating them to the nursing home appeals to me as that is what I do every year. Bundle up my cards of all sorts for them to sell at their fundraising days.
Love your posting card here and the snowmen look fabulous.x
I never knew that trick about quavers, but thanks for sharing! Fun card, love the embossing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great total of cards that the guides managed to make Liz and I'm sure they were really appreciated, and wonderful that you have finished your own cards too. I'm afraid I will still be making for a while yet but have been so busy that I have fallen behind. x

Well done on the Guides evening and also on the batch making of this lovely card. I know how to get ALT and the numeric keypad to do ¼ and ½ (I use them a lot when writing recipes) but I had no idea it did musical notes too. ♫ ♫ ♫
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful you were the inspiration for those cards Liz, I bet they were received with joy. Love this card and what a great find about the quaver! I certainly didn't know that one.
