HAPPY EASTER!
We've spent the last week in our caravan in North Devon. What a change in the weather! When we arrived week ago it was cold, very windy and raining and thought perhaps we should have packed our thermals! Yesterday we were at a family barbecue, sitting in the shade to get some relief from the hot and sunny weather. It's been a welcome change to have a bank holiday weekend with lots of sunshine.
Friends of ours celebrated their wedding anniversary yesterday and this is the card I made for them.

Friends of ours celebrated their wedding anniversary yesterday and this is the card I made for them.
I first saw this MFT 'Cross-Stitch Tag' die used over in the Playground. After resisting temptation to add it to my die collection, I eventually gave in! The tag was die cut with a thick snippet of white card stock. The heart pattern was one I found online here and I used crochet cotton to complete the cross-stitch pattern. I'd forgotten how relaxing it is to do cross-stitch and this week I've made quite a few different tags - so watch this space as I'll be turning them into cards over the next few weeks. I used a snippet of pink card which came from an old file divider for the background and embossed it with an Xcut 'Small Polka Hearts' embossing folder.
TIP: When I made the first tag, I put a needle through each individual hole to push out the tiny circle, which was quite time consuming. So on the next tag, I used a blunt tapestry needle, put the tip into the first hole and dragged it gently along the line of holes. This took a fraction of the time as all the tiny little circles just popped out as the needle went along the line of holes. (Hope this makes sense.)

......and if you're still here, a few photos taken at Clovelly this week, one of my favourite places in North Devon.
It's a long walk down to the harbour!
There is no vehicle access down the main village street which is narrow, steep and cobbled, so supplies are delivered on a sled.
I can see why you couldn't resist that die and what a great idea to make a selection of tags for various cards - cross stitch is a nice relaxing thing to do. Thanks for the handy tip about popping out the tiny bits in the holes. Clovelly looks wonderful - somewhere I've not been, love their way of delivering goods!
ReplyDeleteA lovely card en very nice pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing it.

I love your card, Liz. I do love cross stitch too. I also own such a die, so thank you for the tip. Great photos you shared with us. Happy Easter, my friend.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to know that there are others out there who don't need enablers to purchase items when we enable ourselves sometimes. We'll keep all that to ourselves! Beautiful card and I hope that had a lovely anniversary. What beautiful pictures. I'd like to stroll those streets. Having to walk (drag) supplies in would not be fun. [Bunny]``

What a great card Liz - and such a fabulous tag as well! As you know, I have that same die set and fully intend to die cut a few panels so I can do some cross stitch (if I ever get any free time!). It's so relaxing and I did a lot of cross stitch over the years - brilliant for long flights or waiting around in airports. And just perfect for caravaning too of course! That's a beautiful design you used as well. Bet the recipients love the card!

I forgot to say what a lovely place Clovelly is - that's some hike down to the harbour! And how about the climb back up? Sheesh! Di x
ReplyDeleteIt was worth every penny of the £1.50 to ride back up to the top in the Land Rover. 😉 xx
