Thinking of You

It's been a strange week, with lots of different emotions.  This time last week we had arrived in North Wales for a short break.  My daughter had given me a voucher on my last birthday for a Zip Wire Experience on the longest in Europe/fastest in the world zip wire.  Joanna and I decided we would do it together and booked for last Tuesday.  (Photos at the end of this post.) What an amazing experience! We came home last Wednesday via the fabulous Lavinia Stamps shop.  On Thursday we heard the very sad news that Queen Elizabeth had passed away.  It's still hard to take in as she has been the only British monarch in my lifetime.  May she rest in peace after a lifetime of service.

I thought today would be an appropriate time to share a card I made recently for a friend who recently lost her husband.  She lives in New Zealand and I hope the card has arrived by now.
Music played a very big part in the lives of my friend and her husband, so I decided to used a music embossing folder for the background.   I die cut the Memory Box 'Spendid Poppy Stems' in green and in red, snipping off the red flower heads and layering over the green die cut and added a little black in the centre.  The sentiment is a Woodware stamp.

I am joining in the following challenges:

Here are a few pictures of my zip wire experience.

You may need to click on the videos twice to open them.
My hubby took this first video of me and Joanna on the little taster zip wire, before we were taken up the mountain for the main one.  I'm the one in purple and Joanna is nearest the camera.

This is the official video on the main zip wire, the camera was attached to my helmet.
For any visitors to my blog who love Lavina Stamps as much as I do, I took some photos inside their little shop.

Last month, Jenny of Cardsarus generously gave two regular visitors to her blog a voucher each to a craft store of their choice.  I was one of the lucky two and chose a Lavinia Stamps voucher.  This is what I bought, including a few extra things which fell into my basket. 😉  Thank you so much Jenny!

  15. Awesome Zip Wire! Isn't Lavinia's pretty!
A lovely card too, I swore an oath of allegiance to H.M way back in 1975 - like you I am finding it hard to imagine anyone else being our Sovereign as she has been the mainstay and her devotion to duty is unsurpassed.

  16. Wow looks like you had a great trip to North Wales. You're very brave, I'm not sure I would be that brave - you obviously enjoyed it though, judging by your huge smile all the way down! Lavinia Stamps looks like an amazing experience too!
Your card is lovely, condolences to you and your friend. Much of the world has been mourning this week with the passing of Queen Elizabeth II - an incredible woman by all accounts.

What a great gift from your daughter and that she did it with you. Lucky you, too, to be able to visit the Lavinia store. It's unlike any I've ever seen with the decor.

  19. Wow, wow, wow, I'm so impressed that you did that, I don't think I would be brave enough. And then a trip to Lavinia stamps. Heaven. Oh and a beautiful card too.

  20. Sorry your friend has lost her husband Liz and the poppies being for remembrance work well, and love the musical embossed background, and how brave of you to do this huge zip wire...personally I would not be up for that one, but great you and Joanna did it together, then a lovely visit to Lavinia Stamps, and congrats on winning a gift token and looking forward to see what you make with that wonderful stash. Like you I have only ever known Queen Elizabeth as monarch as I was less than a year old when the king died and it is hard to realise that she is gone. Her devotion to duty was absolute and she was so well loved around the world. x
