We came home yesterday from a few days in our caravan, packing it up ready to move to a new site.... not easy in the heat of the last few days. It felt like the end of an era as we've had our caravan in the same place for about 25 years, but for various reasons it was time to move it a few miles down the road to a fabulous little family run site. This evening I should have been flying over our city in a hot air balloon. The weather looked perfect and we watched the large baskets arrive and the balloons were attached ready to be inflated. We had the safety briefing and a last minute check was made about the wind speeds.... and then our pilot told us the winds had increased and they were too strong for us to fly. Oh well.... something to look forward when I can rebook it.
I made this card for my niece's husband and can post it on my blog now that I know it's arrived at its destination. I wasn't sure if it was too busy with the papers I'd chosen, but decided in the end to send it.
The patterned papers are from a paper pad which came as a cover gift a while ago. I die cut the hot air balloon with a Lin and Lene die using a snippet of yellow card. Leaving the die cut in the die, I inked through the apertures in the die with red ink. I snippet off the basket and used the die again with a snippet of brown card and attached it to the balloon. The balloon was layered on a white rectangle.... another snippet. The sentiment is a die from the Stampin' Up 'Humming Along' set, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Verdant'.
The card folds flat for posting.

How disappointing that your trip was cancelled at the last minute, a fabulous card
ReplyDeleteAnother super shaped card from you Liz. Very striking. Sorry you didn’t get to have your balloon ride. Better luck next time xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering a piece of homework to the Snippets Playground. See you up in the treehouse later. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat's disappointing Liz, but know it happens, they fly from the golf club just across the Fen and so often we hear plans change. But as you say something to look forward to. Really like your masculine card.

What a shame about your trip yesterday but, better to be safe - hope you won't have to wait too long to have your flight rescheduled
ReplyDeleteYour card is simply lovely and I'm sure it was well received
Happy Tuesday

What a shame that your balloon flight was called off at the last minute, just when you were all set for the off. This is a lovely bright card and the papers match well with the image.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast between the CAS-style of the balloon image and the fun DP! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame for the balloon flight called off... Hope you could have another one early.
ReplyDeleteYour card is delightful, fabulous folding and colours. Love the patterned paper, not too busy for me!
Hugs
Your safety is important and better to wait for a nicer day for your ride. Something fun to look forward to. A fun card though and you still got to use a balloon!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful balloon design Liz and love the two different papers and a really super shape too. Hubby had one flight put off due to the winds being too strong, but didn't have to wait too long and did happened the second time, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. x
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed that you get to go " Up, up and away" very soon Liz. Love this card, the papers are fantastic and perfect for your lovely die cut x
ReplyDeleteLovely hot air balloon card Liz...and sorry your trip was cancelled...it happened to my husband on a couple of occasions even when we thought it was good to go...you will hopefully get to experience it soon. x
ReplyDeleteOutstanding and so pretty....and oh, how I wish I was riding in that today. I do hope you get another booking - that just has to be so much fun and I know you'll love it. Great card Liz

What a stunning card Liz. I love the shape and also the colours and image are so perfect with the backing paper. I was thinking about you on the day of your 'flight'. Look at it this way - you might have been dragged through a field of cow poo miles from the intended landing site. Plus, it's still there as something to look forward to. Double win IMHO! Lovely to see you in the Playground. Re. moving the caravan - whateveer the reason it sounds like you're moving to a very nice site!

It's a beautiful card. I went up in a hot air balloon many years ago. All you can hear up there are dogs barking! If there are any of course lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame about the balloon trip, at least you can go again sometime. I love your card Liz from the fold to the colourful paper and bright balloon.
ReplyDeleteLiz, I love that you and hubby were going to go for a hot air balloon ride! You have more nerve than me, I'm to afraid of heights, but have always wished I wasn't as I'd love to ride in a hot air balloon. You are an adventurer! I love it! I also love this card and I don't think it is too busy at all. You balloon pops off the white background perfectly. The dotted paper just looked like a lots of hot air balloons high in the sky. I love the papers and love your fun card fold. I hope you get to rebook that flight on the balloon soon! Hugs, Brenda
