Purple and Green

I made this card for a friend's birthday.

When I've used this Sizzix 'Botanical Mask' die on previous cards, I've layered it on a coloured mat, so that just one colour would show through, making it very quick card to make.  This time I decided to put tiny green snippets of green card behind all the leaves and stems, which I thought would be quick and easy.  How wrong was I! It was really fiddly to do, making sure that the green wouldn't go over the spaces where I wanted the purple to show through.  After attaching all the green snippets, I layered the white card on a purple mat and then into a green mat before attaching to the card blank.  The sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Best Year' set, stamped with Versafine Clair. The green mat was also a snippet, so I'll be sharing my card over in the Snippets Playground.

  4. This card is very pretty and worth the extra work. I wonder what an ink blended panel would look like behind the die cut cover panel. Thanks for sharing your lovely project with us at The Beautiful Blossoms Challenge. We enjoy seeing everyone's creativity!

  5. This is very pretty Liz and a great idea to fill in the areas with the green and then add the purple mat as the backing for the flowers, but can image it would not have been quick to do but it looks very effective and love the added green to make a double matted layer..great coordination and a beautiful card. x

  15. Oh Liz - I feel your pain making this. But it's truly fabulous and so worth all the time it must have taken you to make!My Sunday Snippets card almost drove me back for a further eye operation - why do we do these things? I know, totally optimistic as well as a bit bonkers. I can live with that!

  17. Your Sizzix 'Botanical Mask' card turned out beautifully! The intricate details with the green snippets behind the leaves add such depth and texture to the design. It's clear your attention to detail paid off, despite the unexpected challenge. The color combination of purple, green, and white is striking, and the sentiment from the Stampin' Up 'Best Year' set complements it perfectly. Great job navigating the fiddly process—you've created a stunning card!
