Caravan Crafting

I've had a busy week or so, with a long weekend in London with my daughter, home for a day to celebrate a friend's 90th birthday with a lovely Afternoon Tea, then off the next morning for a week in our caravan in North Devon.   I hadn't planned to do much crafting in the caravan if the weather was fine, but there were a few cards I needed to make while we were away.  The first one was for a blogging friend who recently lost her Dad.

A simple design for this sympathy card.  I cut a snippet of patterned paper (from The Range) into a square and then cut it into quarters.  I corner rounded opposite corners.  I did the same with a slightly larger snippet of lilac card, which left a small border around the small squares.  The sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Painted Glass'.

My second card was made for my daughter who had an operation on Saturday.  There is a little story about the design.  Despite my best efforts and encouragement, my daughter is definitely NOT a crafter. 😂 However, she does like receiving my handcrafted cards, which I know she keeps.  While we were in London we went in a shop with lots of stickers etc and my daughter said "Oh look there's some of that fancy 'tapey stuff' you use." Sure enough there was some 'tapey stuff', otherwise know as washi tape!  Did I need any more washi tape? No, but I bought it anyway, a box of 12 reels of floral tape with vintage look.  So, I decided to make her Get Well card using the tape.  I cut a rectangle of white card slightly smaller than the card blank put strips of the washi tape across the card, cutting the tape slightly longer than the card so a could tuck it behind to keep the tape secure. The sentiment is stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Humming Along' set and I added three tiny red pearls. The finished card front was layered on the card blank.

If you've read this far, here are a few photos of my long weekend in London with my daughter, Jo.

Travelling with my daughter is like having my own personal travel guide... she plans everything, mostly as a surprise.  We arrived in London in time for Afternoon Tea at Brigit's Bakery.....

......then a quick visit to Covent Garden.....

.... before a trip to the theatre to see a wonderful evening performance of Matilda.

We were up early the next day to visit the fascinating Time Walk exhibition.

Next stop, a bit of retail therapy and time for some Japanese Souffle Pancakes..... absolutely delicious!

Last activity of the day, a ride on a tunnel slide. The silver curly tunnel is on the left in the photo.

Here is Jo's video going down the tunnel. Best viewed with sound ON. It was so much fun, we went down twice.

Last day, a brilliant concert at the O2, the main reason for our trip to London.

  1. Sorry to hear you needed a sympathy card but this one is lovely. I have more washi tape than I will ever use and this is a great way to use some, hope your daughter will make a complete and speedy recovery, Liz. Lovely pix, looks like you had a great trip too
