This is the first time I've made a card for someone 100 years young. I first met Kitty over twenty five years ago, when we both supported the same local football team. She really is the most amazing lady and is still a regular at the football stadium, watching our favourite team. Her eyesight is not what is was, so I wanted my card to have lots of textures, with a fancy fold.
Our team plays in blue and white, so the colour scheme was decided for me! I made a Tri-shutter card, which is easier to make than it looks! I used blue and white pearlised papers which I embossed before covering all the panels.
Here are my instructions for cutting and scoring. I hope they make sense.
1. Cut base card 5½" x 12".
2. Score at 2", 4", 8" 10" (only 1½" down at the top and 1½" up from the bottom at the 2" and 10" points).
3. Measure in 1½" on both the long sides and cut from the 2" score line to the 10" score line.
As requested by Di, I'll be sharing this card on Pixie's Snippets Playground
I would like to enter my card for the following challenges:
Liz, I'm back from my blogging break and this is the first card that popped up on my Blog Reader - and what a card it is!!! WOW! Your friend is going to love this and yes, she'll be able to see and feel it too. So much love went into this I know. Amazing and so beautiful!

Although I used a few snippets, I didn't link it to the Playground as I've already linked three cards, but will link this one now as an extra. There are HUGE celebrations planned for Kitty. :-D xx

Oh my. what a gorgeous card for someone turning 100! My great Aunt Kathryn (known to all her friends as "Kitty") lived to be 106 years young!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, Liz! Cutting and folding like this looks very scary! Love the blue and white them! An amazing card for an amazing birthday!
ReplyDeleteIt's much easier than it looks, Bonnie. Just four score lines and two cuts. I'll add the instructions to this post later today. xx
DeleteThis is lovely Liz and I'm sure Kitty will have been over the moon to receive this. I have made one of these but not for ages and thanks for the instructions. I have been looking back at your recent posts and love the other things you have been constructing - the great stocking fillers and the pretty notebooks and the wonderful stencil holder, really so very clever! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and that you have a happy, healthy and creative new year. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a super idea to make the card with embossing folders for the feel of the texture. An amazing age to get too and still enjoying life. I have only tried this card shape once before with not much success so must give it another go using your instructions. There is a surprise on my blog for you. Hugs Mrs A.
