Golden Wedding Anniversary.... and a little confession to make!

Good friends of ours celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary last weekend and this is the card I made for them.
I used a Presscut 'Centre Stepper Card' die for the card base.  The gold card is non-shed glitter card and is a really beautiful shade of gold.  The heart is an Impression Obsession 'Heart of Hearts' die cut.  All the text is computer generated and I finished off my card with a few white pearls.

I am joining in the following challenges:
WWC214 ~ Marsha's "All About Occasions" Challenge
HLS March Anything Goes with Dies Challenge

A cardmaking demonstrator come along to my local WI meeting on Tuesday, where we all got to make two cards following her instructions.  I have a little confession to make - I altered them slightly when I got home. 😉 Is that really bad of me?

This shows the card open.  The animals were coloured with pencil crayons, so at home I went over them with Promarkers to make them stand out more.  Also, the fern leaves didn't quite stamp properly, so I got a matching green Promarker and filled in a couple of little gaps.  Then..... I somehow got a thick, green pen mark about 1" long on the plain white card!!!  So.....as I couldn't remove it with a blender pen, I covered it over with a strip of washi tape.  Phew!

The second card had navy blue patterned paper as the base mat, as well as the little envelope, with an embossed navy blue mat on top.  The envelope didn't really show up against the dark background.  We had glue sticks to assemble everything, so it was easy enough to peel off the patterned background paper, turn it over and stick it on again.  I found a snippet of green card, embossed it and layered it over the background paper.   I still need to think of a way to make the navy blue envelope stand out more, as it just looks like a rectangle because of the detailed pattern.  I had thought of putting of line of faux stitching along the edge of the top flap, but I don't think it will show up enough.  I'll have to give it a bit more thought....... or perhaps I'll see if I have some suitable patterned paper and make a new envelope. 😊

  1. Hi Liz. Your anniversary shaped card is gorgeous! As for your amendments in the two card when you went home, I always think that artists have to do what they want without any restrictions. So I love the final effect of your two beautiful cards. Kisses, my friend.

  4. Such a beautiful anniversary card Liz, I'm sure that your friends loved it. Having been to quite a few demos and craft retreats we are normally encouraged to go off piste and do our own thing, so I would not feel bad about it Liz. Next time just go for it. They look great by the way.

    1. I think I was the only cardmaker in our WI, so felt I had to follow the instructions like everyone else. Everything was provided, so I waited until I got home to go off piste. 😉 xx

  9. Your golden wedding card is absolutely beautiful Liz and the two cards you made at the WI are both very pretty. I know what you mean about tweaking something but not at the time, not wishing to offend or be different, but your reasons were valid and they have, I can see, made all the difference. x

  11. Such a beautiful and thoughtful wedding anniversary card for your friends x. The gold shade is so pretty. I think it shows how creative you are to come home and adapt the cards and made them your own. Maybe a white/pale blue strip of card along the edge of the cute blue envelope would help it stand out a little. Thank you for sharing these beautiful cards x.

  12. The Anniversary card is beautiful. Often making cards at a demo day puts us under pressure and I know I often don't get the results I'd like so have been known to tweak them when I get home. I don't think there is anything wrong with doing this!!

Allways fun to make things together and learn more...looks like different style, but maybe you take some to your style? Enjoy the weekend!

  14. The anniversary card is so beautiful and elegant. They will love that. The wild about you card is so darn cute and using washi is a good save. Not everyone's taste is the same so remaking the card into something you like is a good thing. I like that cute little envelope.
