Pastel Colours

What a change in the weather!  Last week we were turning on the heating and this week we are looking for shade to cool down.  It's just the sort of weather to have a short break in beautiful North Devon.  I packed some card, a few dies, patterned papers and crochet cotton to take to our caravan so I could make a card to join in a few challenges..... in the shade!

I used a Marianne Designs cross-stitch die with thick white card and cut it into a square with a Spellbinders Nestability die.   I used crochet cotton for the cross stitching, using a pattern I adapted to fit the  and matted the completed cross stitch pattern onto a pink Spellbinders 'Lacey Square' die cut.  The dotty paper is from a Dovecraft paper pad.

I am joining in the following challenges:

  1. Totally brilliant Liz! I have everything ready to do the same expect I need to die cut some labels. Did you find any useful tricks when die cutting? I know, and am sure I wrote about it, that thicker card was more difficult with all those little holes. And I love the idea of using crochet cotton - but I have three A4 sized partitioned boxes of embroidery thread all wound onto cardboard 'skeins' or whatever they are. Every colour under the sun from when I used to do cross stitch on fabric and my conscience tells me I really ought to use those up - ha, I'd be about 200 years old by then though!Lucky you with this lovely weather just being able to nip away! Enjoy!

    1. To get the bits out of the holes in the die cut, I run the blunt end of a tapestry needle over each row of holes at about a 45 degree angle and most of the bit come out first time. (I run the die through by Big Shot several times first.) Any bits left in the die, I pop out with a ordinary pin. Looking forward to seeing what you make. I have a box of embroidery threads too and one day I will finish off all the cross stitch embroidery projects I started years ago! Well, that's the plan.... ;-) xx
