Positive Thoughts

Welcome to my new follower.  Please leave a comment on my blog so I can follow your blog too.

I made this card for a friend who is shielding during the pandemic.  I can't begin to imagine what it's like to be shielding for so long.  It's hard enough being in another lockdown, but at least my hubby and I can go out for a daily walk or to shop for food.

The Memory Box 'Bubble Burst' die is a pre-loved one I bought recently and this is the first time I've used it.  I used the die on a white piece of card and layered it on a purple mat.  The three circles at the top are the waste from another die.  The sentiment, from the SU 'Positive Thoughts', was stamped in purple, layered on a purple mat and raised up on foam pads.

I am joining in the following challenges:

  1. Very cool card, Liz! The die has a bit of a retro vibe going on, and I always love anything retro! I hope your friend is able to go outside soon.

  3. That die was a great find Liz, love the graphic look. It's hard adjusting to the constant changes in what is and isn't allowed at the moment, we live in a really rural area so not too much impact at the moment, I hope your friend can relax and get back out in the world soon, Cathy x

  5. Love the card Liz. Hope it gives the recipient a lift. I can't imagine how it would be being lockdown for such long periods and not being able to leave the house. I had about 10 weeks like that early on in the pandemic and that was certainly bad enough.
I like the die that you used too Liz.

  6. That's a very effective die Liz and a really cheery creation, sure your friend will love it. As a shielder I can confirm that while I know it's for my own good I am beginning to become a tad paranoid and it's firmly seated in my head that March 6th 2020 was the last time I went to a shop or did anything close to normal. I reckon I'll need to take my driving test again as will probably have forgotten how.

  7. A lovely thought to send a card to someone who is shielding for such a long time. That die is one I've not seen before but it is great and should prove to be a jolly useful one to have.

  8. Such a lovely thoughtful card Liz.The die is wonderful!
My M-I-L has been confined to her flat for 18 months now - she broke her back and just as she recovered enough to go outside along came the virus and shielding. We are only hoping that she gets the first vaccination very soon but currently it appears that certain parts of the country are administering it quicker than others. Lockdown is really hard for everyone and it must be even worse if you are on your own confined in a flat with no personal outdoor space.
    Stay safe. x

  9. A Beautiful die and very different, I can see why you bought it. To be confined for so long - without doing anything wrong is awful, if you know what I mean? This will cheer her up I've no doubt, a lovely calming card.

  12. It's lovely, Liz! I haven't seen that die before. Great find getting it pre-loved! It has a retro flair that somehow reminds me of some 60s lamps my dear mother had when I was growing up. Love the crisp white and purple. This will surely bring cheer to your friend.
I haven't heard the term "shielding"....but I am guessing that means stay confined to the inside of your home 24/7...rather than being to able to go out briefly for some fresh air or on essential errands?? Oh, my. What has our world come to? God help us all.
Thanks for sharing your pretty card. Stay healthy and creative!!

  23. What a beautiful and thoughtful card Liz! I love that die you used, it is so cool looking. But it is that sentiment that is just perfect especially in these times we find ourselves in. I think shielding is getting to a lot of people, we are all so ready for normal to return, but it's going to be at least another good part of a year before we see any type of normal. Never thought I would see something like this! Crazy for sure. Glad you and hubby and get out, I am looking forward to spring just for that reason. At least when warm out you can get out in the yard or pool. Even mowing the grass is welcomed! lol Stay well my friend. hugs, Brenda

  25. Great card Liz! I agree it must be awful to have to stay inside all the time and not have the option to go out.

  26. Beautiful and a thoughtful card Liz.. The whole idea of using such a geometric die is so innovative.. It really imitates the look of the shield to be. It is a unique one.. And so positive Sentiments in these really tough times seem to be the strength. It is definitely difficult
for everyone to be stuck and confined to the houses.. But to receive such a beautiful card it would just cheer up the recipient.. Thank you for playing along Happy Little Stampers.. DT Dhruvika @the_cardogram

  28. Hi Liz,
what a very lovely card and such a very fab design too.
    Love the colours used.
You are very thoughtful to make a card for your friend.
I don't get out much now either as my hips are so much trouble that I am not confident on my own.
I do use a walking thing but feel very vunrable and of course with this lockdown I hate to ask my Daughter as she is my bubble and a her work is exhausting without me asking her to do more.
Thank you for joining the MAWTT Challenge yet again.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L. DT
