Corner Bookmarks

I haven't made any corner bookmarks for a quite a while, but it was a good way of using up some of the mountain of snippets I seem to have accumulated.  For those in the UK, you possibly may have heard that there is an important football final today 😉.  So, I decided to make a England football themed corner bookmark.

The bookmarks slide over the corner of the page to keep your place.

I decided to make a few more,  a Lego bookmark.....

.....and an Angry Bird one.

Here are a few others I've made this week.

I personalised these by adding initials, a name and something relating to a hobby.
I didn't set out to make so many this week, but they did become a bit addictive to make!  I think most of them will go to my great nieces and great nephew to share with their friends.

If you've never made these before, they are so easy to make and a fun activity for children to do too.  I've written some instructions for how I make mine.

1. Start with a square of card, I used a 6” x 6” square for the bookmarks above, but the size of the square can be adjusted to suit the design you are doing.   Draw lines on the card as shown in my template.

2. Cut off the parts marked in red on the template.  (Keep the offcuts for punched shapes or die cuts.) The remaining two lines are the fold lines.

3. Fold along the two lines, as shown.  Fold one triangle over the other, ensuring that they lie flat.  Trim the bottom triangle if necessary.

4. Add double-side tape or glue to the bottom triangle as shown. Add any decorations which stick out, such a tongue or teeth, to this triangle before folding the top triangle over and sticking it down firmly.  The bookmark is now ready to be decorated.

No full sheets of card were harmed making any of my corner bookmarks, so I'll be sharing them over in The Playground.

I am joining in the following challenges:

  2. What a lot of these fun bookmarks you ended up making Liz and they slip over the corner of the page perfectly and don't damage the pages either which is good. Thanks also for the 'how to'. The football themed one is perfect for today. x
