Twofer ~ Birds

The Twofer Challenge this month is 'Birds'...... two cards with different designs, for two different occasions, using the same stamp, die or stencil.  I used an old Dreamweaver 'Owl' metal stencil on both my cards.  I made a birthday card and a card for a card swap, so I hope that counts as two different occasions.  The stencil is quite a large one which takes up most of the card, but I tried to make the designs as different as I could.

I am joining in the Twofer Challenge #40 with this pair of cards.

The first card I made was for a card swap, which I can post on my blog now that I know it's been received.  I drew the outline with a black fineliner pen.  I haven't done any Zentangling for a long time, so decided to use this technique on my card.  I used Lisa Horton 'Scallop Layered Rectangle' dies for matting and layering.  The sentiment stamp was from the Happy Little Stampers 'Birthday Friends' set of stamps and I raised the sentiment up on foam pads.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

For my second card, I inked through the stencil with Distress Ink and used a brown fineliner pen around the edge of all the parts of the owl.  The birthday sentiment, stamped with Versafine 'Acorn', was a stamp from the SU 'Vertical Greetings' set of stamps.  I added a couple of brown Card Candi to finish off my card.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

  12. Two wonderful cards Liz!! I used to have a lot of metal stencils that I would use on a light box with a stylus, but never thought of putting color through them like you did...how simple but totally works! Love that you outlined the owl that you ink blended too! And your Zentangled owl is FABULOUS!! I took one class ages ago on it but never did anymore after the class...you're making me re-think that I might need to give this technique another try! Two wonderful, wonderful cards Liz!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at The Twofer Challenge!! Marcia (DT) :0)

  16. Wow Liz, you certainly did make these two owls look different and for two different occasions! I love your zentangle, you are good at that! This card is so artsy and bold looking, I love it! Your other twofer is just the opposite, it is so soft looking, like I could reach out and feel the feathers on this little guy. Love the vertical greeting and the neutral colors. I'd say you knocked this challenge out the park! Hugs, Brenda
