It has been a historical weekend in the UK with the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday. For most of us, it was the first coronation in our life time, as the last one was in June 1953. We held our street party yesterday, which I organised with one of the neighbours. Unfortunately, we couldn't plan the weather, but we had several gazebos erected so we could keep dry when the heavy rain came late afternoon. The ages ranged from 2 years to 90 years and it was good to get together with all the neighbours and share a fabulous buffet washed down with a glass or two.
As it was a special weekend, I thought I'd make a card to mark the occasion.
The card base was made with a Spellbinders 'Happy Days' die. I used a Sue Wilson 'Shimmering Stars' embossing folder. The stars were made with punches.
I am joining in the following challenges:
Well done you for organising a street party. I bet the unpredictable weather just made it more memorable. Love you special card xx
ReplyDeleteThe weather could have been better for the celebrations but that's the fun of living in this country, so unpredictable!
ReplyDeleteA fabulous card in those patriotic colours.

Beautiful card to celebrate our Coronation day, fabulous vibrant colours and love the embossing!
ReplyDeleteThis is a super shaped card Liz and in the red, white and blue to celebrate the coronation. I was only two for the last one so don't remember it of course, but it was a real spectacle and lovely that you organised a street party to celebrate it..at least it wasn't torrential rain with thunder and lightening like to day. x
ReplyDeleteAwesome card for an awesome day! I watched a bit on TV.
ReplyDeleteThis colourcombi looks always so fresh! Great shape and colours! Hugs, Gerrina

This is a great keepsake card Liz. So glad you enjoyed your street party despite the british weather........well it wouldn't be british without the rain would it..lol!
ReplyDeleteWell done Liz, a super card. We had a clear afternoon, wish our neighbours were as good as yours, we were the only ones with flags out! This was my second Coronation. I must be old! :)
ReplyDeleteI missed the 1953 coronation by five months. 😉
DeleteI love your card Liz. The little stair steps and the C and C top it all - along with the colors too of course. The street party sounds like so much fun. I did watch most of it on the TV but it started at 4:00 in the morning here and I wasn't able to get up quite that early.

Sounds like you celebrated in style Liz and what a happy and glorious card too!! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a brilliant make and a brilliant keepsake! So wonderful you were able to share in the festivities with your neighbours even though the weather must have made it difficult! IMO, this was what the coronation should have been about - people celebrating together as a community, not just a big parade! Hugs, Kate!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card Liz and glad you had a great day! hugs Sue x
ReplyDeleteThat is a perfect card and brilliant shape for the Coronation!
